So I received my new wheels today, they are 18x10 +22 offset bullitt replica wheels. They are only for the rear I'm keeping the front stock wheels I have on. I'm looking to get tires for them, I read that 285/40/18 would most likely be a good fit but I can't find many tires that meet these specs. I'm looking at michi pilot super sports 285/35zr/18 but before I order them I would like some of your opinions on the fitment, preferably from experience. Also wondering about other tires that have good summer performance specs, I'm open to whatever you have to say.

285/35-18 is like 5% shorter/smaller than what your car came with. That's significant and it will look noticeably small too.

Bridgestone S-04 comes in a 265/45R18 101Y SL, which fits a 10" wheel and is the correct diameter. That or the new Conti ExtremeContact Sport in 285/40-18 which is only 1% small.

so the 285/40 is roughly 1% shorter than 235/50 and the 285/35 are 5% shorter? It would cost about $80 more for a set of two conti tires vs the super sports. I'm going to have two different style wheels on the car so I'm not to worried about it being smaller, its going to look "off" as is, I just want to make sure it will actually work and handle well.

thank you for input.

edit:
I looked up the sidewall calculation and you are most definitely correct 40 is the way to go with a 285 tire.
Any other tires you or anyone else recommends?
The pilot sport A/S 3+ have a 285/40/18 I am looking at cheaper than the pilots and the conti and look promising but they are not performance summer tires. They have good reviews on tire rack.

Can you post some pics once you get them on? I'd love see some new pics of an S550 with those wheels.

I will try to. Might be a few weeks. Not sure how though, and my camera on my iphone is half broken missing the outer lens and pretty blurry.

That new Conti EC Sport should be a max-performance summer tire. It's not the DWS, but a replacement for the DW.

I found those two by poking around the TireRack.com site. If you want more options that's what I'd recommend doing.
