Hey peeps.
I just modded my rear lights with red vinyl wrap, but i think about "legality" of this (yes, maybe a bit late but still... :)

Do you had - those who has some experience with it - any issues with this type of mod vs. police in EU?
I worry mainly about the bit alternated color when the turn indicator is on... (a bit more orange then just yellow before - not on pict. sadly)

Mostly insterested in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Itally....

Thanx for reply.

(Just a bit to show you, ill add more when my modding is done .)

If you ever have a problem, ill be shocked.

Here in NL, it is legal for imported US cars to have red indicators, and no Policeman is ever going to know the difference between an EU and a US Mustang (unless you are unluckiest person alive, LOL).

Dont worry, you will be fine.

I also run small American sized licence plates on mine, which normally attract a lot of attention from the Police here as its an easy (and large) fine.

Yesterday I parked next to some highway cops in the gas station and they never even batted an eyelid.... again because the car is American and it looks 'right'.

:)

In Belgium they are illegal. The chance that a cop will stop you for it is very small as they are red but if they would look closer by they could see the wrapping and give a fee. But chances are quiet small as long as it is not black to say something.
However the annual control could be more difficult and they might forbid your car to have it ... at least again in Belgium.

Absolutely no problems here in Italy. They are probably more legal in red than in white :D
I was stopped 2-3 times by the cops and no mention about lights - consider I have the sequential mod - and when stopped I have to keep on hazards!
Probably some small mod in a Fiat Punto would be noticed, but in an american car like this, that no one have ever seen (mine is still the only one in a 50 km radius), all is allowed :D
I also have the red led side markers, that I am 99% sure should be orange, and no mention from cops at all.

In Belgium we have got the most Mustangs of all of Europe based on the number of inhabitants ... so they know the car better.

I do not think the red color is illegal in itself but the wrapping might be.
I have also my side markers in red instead of that ugly orange but with wrapping. I think if you have DD or other side markers they cannot say anything about this (other opinions?)
Same in my opinion for the back lights if they are real back lights in red or even another color they might pass if not wrapped ... But then again better ask a specialist here on the forum!

Yeah of course the numer of cars makes difference. If you have 100 mustangs, all with amber side markers and one with red, they will notice for sure.

Thankx for replies, in Czech Republic you have to use wraps with some certificate and this isnt the case (its ebay).
The same is for the sidemarkes, got them in red wrap also.

Well, lets hope it will be ok. I can take them off in worst scenario but realy dont want to. Looks so good on it.

And thanx Papinist for Itally, planning a car trip to Italy in summer so wanted to know (btw i hate your fuel price!! :)

I hate it too :-\
Be prepared to be noticed... especially with the V8 (probably 1% of Mustangs here are V8)

Yeah exactly

They only way you might get noticed by police is when the light emission is noticably lower than average because of a wrapping.

On my car that would probably require at least 3 layers of wrap because they are bright as fcuk. I regularly see people pinching their eyes when they sit behind me at a traffic light and I have the brakes on. :D
