Hello all.

I need an advice from you guys who installed Steeda tri-ax shifter on their GTs.
I installed it and from that moment i hear very annoying deep rumble around 2-3k RPM, its resonating into ears but very low, not high pitch, no squeeling or anything like that. It almost sounds like i had removed resonator or exchange exhaust - but i didnt!
And since its almost pain into ears in those RPMs its very annoying.
Every other aspect of that shifter is GREAT!! Awesome shifting, smoot as butter.

Can someone help me with that?
Did you guys noticed any deep deep resonances after installing that tri-ax??
Thank you for help, i dont want to remove that shifter, but i cant stand that sound tbh...

Yes, it sounds strange for me too. Even if there will be some NVH i would expect high sound, not this crazy rumble that sounds like hole in exhaust... :/

SO you after install didnt hear ANY change in sound? Have you stock exhaust?

No issues with mine. After installing it I didn't notice any new sounds/noises. I just had a catback exhaust before I installed it at the time.

Not that it would completely deaden the sound, but you installed the dynomat that comes with it?

Well, i not only installed one dynomat but like 3 plates of it.
Problem is that its not "arteficial noise" that comes from the trans or shifter.
Its simply very very deep rumbling sound that gets very intense in 2-3k RPM and it sounds like new exhaust.
You think there can be any problem with exhaust? We have it down for the install and then put it back, but simply to its previous location, no change there...

Man, I'm at a loss here of what that could be. It only started making the noise after you installed the shifter, . . . .and you have ALL the exhaust clamps tightened and no exhaust leaks anywhere?

Ye, we tested it yesterday again, day after the instal, and its all tight...
I only changed transmission fluid to Synchro II - but it shouldt be that.

There is the frontal long part of the tri ax - the one you fix to your trans.
How much did you tighten it? Cause it dont has any "rubber" parts to eliminate vibrations.
Should it be tighten to maximum? its only think iam thinking about that could do it...

Mine just buzzes at certain RPMs if my hand isn't on it. I've been too lazy to take it apart to see if I can center it better.

Thank you TJ steeda.
Bartly - so you think it could be due bad centering? Its true that we had problem with centering the shifter "stick" ....

Make sure the upper lock out collar is centered on the lower Delrin collar if it is not centered it will rattle slightly. On another note, make sure everything is installed correctly with nothing rubbing or hitting the chassis.
Also, check the exhaust plus, make sure the shift boot is secured properly.

My noise is kind of a high pitched noise/vibration so I think it is the centering on mine. I had it apart twice now and couldn't get it to go away. Also mine goes away the second I touch the shirt knob, so I know it's in the shaft clearance being so close. I think you mentioned yours was a low pitch noise, you also mentioned 3 layers of dynomat. I only used one layer and if I recall there was barely any clearance between the top of the shifter housing and the tub. I remember thinking "sure hope that isn't touching". Wondering if your dynomat might be thick enough to be contacting the underside of the tub? Would think that could cause a deeper sounding vibration. Also, on mine that front long aluminum shaft was bolted pretty tightly on install. I too was a little surprised there was no isolation there, but it's all good on that end as far as I'm concerned now.
