What is this light

This light mounted at the top of the rear windshield seems to be another thing on these cars that does not work. I am sure I've photos of it lit up like a 3rd brake light, Does anyone know anything about it. Nothing much out there that I could find.
Wow the flash sure picks up the dust, been a garage queen for a few days. regards

It's the 3rd brake isn't it?
