I am looking at getting an aftermarket hood and I was wondering if hood pins are required/needed. I really don't want to have to use them. I've seen a lot of pics of guys running aftermarket hoods and as far as I can tell they don't have pins, but every site you look at with hoods says that pins are required?? Is that more of a disclaimer? To clarify I'm looking at fiberglass not carbon fiber. Thanks for any input, and feel free to post pics of your hoods as I'm still undecided on the ram air or cowl..Thanks!

I went with Cervini's Stalker and you do not need hoodpins. Quality is just as good if not better than OEM. I would think if you go with a cheaper brand, they might be required.

I actually haven't really seen aftermarket hood that require the use of hood pins

"Hood pins are highly recommended with all model types of Tiger Racing Hood"
link http://www.chicane23.com/shop/body/tiger-racing-hood-mustang-2015/
At the bottom of the page.
From what I've seen and read on different forums, The Tiger racing hood is by far the most used for heat extraction for tracking Mustangs. IF you don't plan on going over freeway speeds, I probably wouldn't worry about it either, BUT if you track your car, It would be a good idea.

It's been listed in EVERY aftermarket hood that I've looked at

Every single one clearly states "for safety purposes hood pins are required on ALL aftermarket hoods"

I went with the stalker hood because it retains the windshield squirters and doesn't require hood pins like the cowl hood. And the optional ram air duct was a plus for me. It should have paint on it in a day or 2. I'll post pics

Like a couple other guys here, I have a Cervinis Stalker. That hood is rock solid. Solid and heavy. It does not require hood pins per the instructions. That hood doesn't shake or wobble even the slightest at highway speeds. My OEM hood did buffet around a bit on the highway.
