GT350 vs 2017 ZL1

Alright guys. They just posted new spy shots over on Camaro6 of the new ZL1. The thing looks mean as hell - lots of aero. How do you think the 2 will compare around a race track? Lets assume both manufacturers have fixed the overheating issues, tested same day, same driver same conditions... lets just assume the two are in a vaccuum. Lets go with both long and tight. Both cars with a manual.

:tsk::rant::frusty:the new zl1 is supercharged,and might have 645hp.why would that car be put against a N/A GT350 with 525hp?

Still squinty-eyed and looking like a Camry, but I'm sure it'll rip.

If the Camaro can win the Power to Weight ratio, it will be more than capable of running a faster lap.

The issue is the supercharger on lap #2...

What's better on the track? A 2015 ZL1 or 2015 z28?

thePill thinks the ZL1 should start at $59,998. Something tells me it will be closer to $69,998 due to the CTS-V and Z06 prices...

I agree. In Road and Track's PCOTY article, the Z was 2 seconds ahead of the 350R. I'm sure a ZL1 will fall somewhere between the two, but on the closer side to the R.

No offense, that car doesn't look "mean as hell".

It looks like Asian persuasion to me. Lots and lots of China/Japan in the front.

I'm wondering what measures were taken to support the ZL1. A platform that was designed to only handle a 4 cylinder engine and a sedan/coupe...

I believe ZL1 will be more GT (Grand Tourer) oriented, GT as in something to cruise with on the highway, aka competition for the GT500 and Hellcat Challenger cars.
If its true, I wonder what GM has in store for the z28.

Whats funny is GM will release the ZL1 and Ford will eclipse that release with the GT500. I hope this time the GT500 can do well on the street and the track. We are still a ways out after reading posts from DBK (Ford insider). Right now Ford is busy as hell with a summer release of the RS and later this year the Ford GT. Maybe next year there will be a GT500 unveil.

The GT500 will be the one that competes with the ZL1.

And I doubt there will be a Z/28, as I don't see an engine available. If the C7 Grand Sport had debuted with an updated hi-po LT1, then I would have figured a Z/28 could have used that engine, but as it stands I think the ZL1 and the 1LE will be the special versions.

Agreed. Not sure about the track, but the Camaro 1LE will likely beat it at the strip.

Not sure why anyone would compare a FI car with an NA car though.

Zl1 will be in the upcoming gt500 league! We haven't seen what a 1le can do. The comments about the sunroof is so funny. Why not have the luxury and the track capability at the same time with an extra couple of pounds lol.
