Can you smell your engine when you park it?

Ok this is kind of hard to describe but if any of you are into computers, you know that plastic smell ? The burning smell of a new video card for the first couple days you have it?

Maybe not but It smells like a mixture of plastic and oil. The car's only got 8500 miles on it now so maybe it's something similar. Running the car hot, perhaps the last owner babied it.

I guess I'll swing it by the ford dealer and have them give it a whiff.

I'm just a lurker but my car does the same is a 2017 gt and the smell is so strong that I can smell it even when I'm in The living room and the car in the garage,I guess is normal I have 400 miles so far.

Mine has always done the same. 6800 miles now, and it's always got that smell after I get out, has since new.

Did anyone else see pork instead of park?

Truth be told I was going to suggest a different lube.

I've had cars that smell like heated plastic before when I park them, luckily this one doesn't. My dads 06 Malibu I can smell from 20ft away, nothing wrong with it that anyone can tell. Its done it since new and has almost 200k on it now, still doing it.

Typically, since this is Atlanta and people don't maintain their vehicles, I end up smelling someone else's POS, instead. So no...

Definitely have that, my car only have 4000km on it now so I'm sure it'll still happen but the cars been in for the winter. Will probably still be there when I take it out in Spring.

Yep, 10,000 miles and smell it every time I park in the garage. Mixture of oil,brakes,plastic smell. Under normal driving. All maint done by dealership.

Mine has that fresh rubber smell.

Yes. 6,100 miles and my entire garage has the engine scent. Beautiful smell I may add!

I have the same smell...nothing seems to be wrong so I just live with it.

You guys sure you dont have a plastic bag melted on your exhausts?

Its a hot oil, tranny ,brake smell not burning plastic in my case.

I had a burning plastic smell a few days ago after closer inspection I saw that when I installed my front C/S lip I must not have fastened the bottom push pins both inner fender liners are toast from being forced into the tire by the 150mph winds. Oops ordered new ones.
