I run a Max2 and I have no clue what issues you're referring to.
Most luxury cars(every clown in my area seems to have a BMW, Cadillac, MB, Audi etc.) comes with: collision warning systems, lane departure warning systems, back up collision warning systems etc. that operate on the same bands as radar detectors. The jerk engineers at the OEM factories could have used any number of other frequencies(which is the same as automatic doors as drug stores etc.), but chose not to.

Thus, when you are in traffic driving behind any of these cars the detectors goes off and won't stop. My Escort has picked up these falses as far as 1/4 mile behind one of said vehicles. It is very annoying to the point of making me want to turn it off.

Valentine has a new advertising campaign where their detectors combat the very same problem I am talking about-with a new algorithm. However, Valentine doesn't carry cordless detectors-which is the type I like.

Mine doesn't do this. These sensors certainly don't use KA band, it's either X, K, or Ku, all of which are not used by police and therefore are turned off on the detector.

Don't waste your money on Escort radar detectors!! They false all day log due to collision warning on a lot of cars these days. A few years ago they were good-not anymore.
I have had many Escorts over the years and currently own a 9500 and have never had a false alert from radar cruise. I even HAVE radar cruise and it has never given me an issue.

I've never used one and I have zero tickets. I also drive like a maniac. Must be luck, or a sixth sense for the fuzz. Though I have been pulled over, let me not leave that out. But every time I am courteous and thankful the the officer and I've never had anything above a warning. One time I was busted drifting my 2014 GT500 and still ended up with a warning to slow down...

I know there is a product called Veil G5 which can reduce the range of LIDAR detection just by applying the coating onto the headlights and taillights though I never really see anyone posting their own results with it. I also plan on picking up an Escort Redline and reprogram it to the XR version since radar detectors are unwanted here. Anyone from Va know if radar or lidar is often used here?

I have the 9500ci in a couple of my cars, shifts radar to avoid a lock and you can double tap mute to allow a lock once you slow down. not legal in some states i believe
This is false, it can block LASER, not radar. Tampering with radio frequencies is a felony but jamming laser is not. And if you want to beat laser, you want something called AntiLaser Priority. It is the best in the market and WAYYY better than any other jammer out there. Here in Ohio, almost everyone uses laser, and the ALP jammer is by far the BEST investment I have ever made. It seems like overnight Ohio went laser and I was getting tickets left and right, I have not had a single ticket since getting laser jammers over 2 years ago though and I have been hit well over 50 times doing 15+ over the limit.

I'd say get the cheapest one, spend about $40. My Cobra brand one you can disable X and K bands, the cops here use Ka- which has way fewer false readings. Some Audis still set it off, as do GMC SUVs, but that's about it.

As everyone else says, it isn't going to help if a cop is waiting to point it at you and then check your speed. It will save you though if he is just cruising along reading speeds, or continually reading speeds at a speed trap. And you still won't have long to slow down, so don't go being stupid...

Please don't go around recommending this. You might as well just take $50 and put it in the trash or light it on fire for warmth, at least you would get some heat in return. Cobras will tell you when you are GETTING a ticket, Escorts and Valentines will tell you BEFORE you get a ticket.

I have been saved many times by my $40 Cobra, so, to each his own.

I won't drive without one. I am in a very rural area. Less false readings. Out of the 3 I have, I like the Passport S55 the best for the money. Also like my Whistler CR90 when I travel outside my area as it has an internal GPS which detects red light cameras. All bought on Amazon for under $150. How much is a speeding ticket these days?

Go to:

rdforum.org

It's the single best source of information in regards to Radar Detectors I have found. As passionate as we are about our cars, those guys are with their radars, testing, and evaluating. One of the forum members runs the youtube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgLr7xoTU3XgAeLrEYp51sw

which has more information than you would be willing to go through. Personally, I was going to get the V1 as it was the standard back in the day. From what I've found out there are tons of capable RD's, but the one that seems to hit the sweet spot between cost and detection is the Radenso line:

https://radenso.com/product-category/radenso

Radenso XP is a great all around RD that will be sensitive enough for all bands while eliminating most all false k-band. You can go as so far (and it's recommended actually) to configure the radar to ignore the commonly used K-band frequencies BLIS operates at.

The Radenso Pro SE is their top of the line model that competes directly against the Redline RD.

You can read a little more here:

http://www.vortexradar.com/2015/09/sept-2015-rd-testing-stinger-vip-cobra-dsp-radenso-pro-se-etc/

I currently run a RX65 mainly cause got it off Groupon for $80, but that thing is chirpy. Going off most all the time to the point I turn it off in the city more often than use it which defeats the purpose of having a RD. Whenever I stop buying mods for the car, I'll grab either a Radenso XP or Pro SE

I bought the Valentine One about 6 months ago. It does go off a lot more than just for radar detectors but what i've found is that if it starts going more than a couple times you better be watching out. Usually it'll be going completely crazy before I even see the cop. But yes, if you are doing 100 in the left lane they'll see you coming then BAM turn it on and you're caught. A little sense goes a long way too
