Can you take pics of the locking lug nuts. I've heard they are huge compared to the standard lug nut and stick out like a sore thumb. I'll be searching for new ones if thats the case.

Cool! Looking forward to following your thread!

I am going with Lloyd's matts instead of the all weather matts.

The Steeda springs only lower it an inch and I love they way they look. That is the perfect ride height in my eyes as I don't like a slammed car.

I am doing the Diode lights as well.

Here is a picture that I was very lucky to receive of the car a few days after it was built, sitting in the shipping lane in Flat Rock. It was taken on 10/26/14.

Finally arrived at the dealership!

And another shot of it sitting at the dealership before I picked it up, taken on 11/13/14.

And finally home in the driveway, taken 11/14/14.

Redline Tuning Hood Struts

This is the first mod that I did to the car.

Date completed: 11/15/14

Cost: $144.76 directly from Redline Tuning (included shipping).

I have had Redline Tuning Hood Struts in all of my Mustangs, and I knew I was going to buy them again for this car. In fact, I owned these before I owned the car! I went with the Elite Series over the Plus Series, as I thought the stainless steel would go much better with the Ingot Silver, and later would match the Strut Tower Brace very well. I decided to remove the stickers to give them a cleaner look.

Installation is a piece of cake, and the installation manual is extremely thorough.

Here are two good shots of the overall look:

Here you can see the indentation where the brackets mount (they were obviously supposed to be there from the factory):

A hole does need to be cut in the battery cover to install the passenger side bracket. The kit comes with a plastic gauge, showing exactly where to drill.

Rear License Plate Frame

*Click on any picture for a larger image*

Date completed: 12/2/14

Cost: $7.50 on eBay, but you can also buy it from Cruiser Frames (plus shipping). This is actually a high-quality metal piece. Better than I expected.

I first thought a black license plate frame would look good, and match the black on the rear of the car. However, against the silver, it stood out too much and drew your attention right to the plate.

So I decided that a chrome frame would blend in with the silver, and not stand out like the black one did. I ordered the thin frame so it would match the chrome trim around the tail lights.

Although installing a license plate frame doesn't need a "how-to", here are a few things that I did:

To fit nicely behind the thin frame, the plate does need to be trimmed a bit. The material glued onto the plate was to keep it from rubbing against the paint, but I had a better idea later:

I installed the bottom hardware to keep the plate from rattling:

I then used a cutting wheel to get rid of the stud:

Since where the plate is attached has raised mounting points, the nuts left in the picture above are the same width:

<picture lost>

Then to prevent damage to the paint, I put a small square of a good-quality double-sided tape. After the top mounting screws are started, and the plate is aligned properly, I allow the tape to go against the bumper. What wears away the paint is rubbing. Since the tape holds the bottom of the plate securely to the body, there is no vibrating. No rubbing = no wear!

Here is a final picture (it was dark and I couldn't get any good far-away shots - I'll add more tomorrow). But it goes very well with the chrome trim already on the car!

Hey Tom, any issues closing the hood? For mine with the prop bar, I have to drop it from about 2' to get it to latch… no problem using the Redline struts?

None at all!

When the hood is lower, the struts no longer offer any resistance, so closing the hood is the same as if they weren't there at all.

When you raise the hood, you have to lift it up maybe half way... then the struts will take over and lift it all the way up.
