Here are fresh photos of the next GT350 Mustang S550 from SVT. We see it testing in two camo colors -- orange and yellow -- and inside it is sporting the Getrag 6-speed manual transmission spotted in earlier photos, as well as the 50 Years badge etched with Bill Ford's signature -- the same one found in the 50 Years Limited Edition 2015 Mustangs. Of course, given what we know about prototype builds, take this with the appropriate grain of salt.

Hope the ejection seat button makes it to production, but hope it is more subtle than on top of dash

Wonder if the all red start button means something special is underhood. Earlier photos had a matte black button as opposed to the stock silver.

Looked more like a self destruct button to me. I'm hoping for an after market option on that.

I'm sure this has been discussed before and is a really dumb question...but what is so special about a getrag? What's the difference between that and an mt-82?

The MT82 is based on the Joint Global 6M1500. Ford, along with 3 other manufacturers employed Getrag to build it... It is very cheap to replace, is the lightest manual in the world at 109lbs wet and, was rated at 390tq at nearly 10,000lbs (Tremec SS=430 @ 3900lbs). The transmissions capacity can be increased easily and is compact compared to Tremec's.

They also have only 1 overdrive and an impressive 3.6x 1st gear ratio.

The initial issues were mostly skip shift related or, was fixed with GT500 components (ie linkage). You can buy two replacement Getrags for one Tremec. Some have said it was difficult to build one aftermarket though, most don't need to try. Lots of fast Getrag Mustangs out there. Rated at 10,000lbs, no wonder they hold up AND, if they blow apart, its cheap to just replace.

From what I've been able to discern...not much speacial about the Getrag. The MT-82 is the Getrag. It is owned and designed by a German Company and assembled in China. Take what you will from that!

I do know that (Depending on your opinion) that the Getrag/MT-82 has had it's share of issues in the past as well as critics.

Although Ford is claiming to have corrected those issues and the 2015 Mustang has a new improved version that is suppost to address all the previous short comings.

I was hoping that they would have swithed, like they have in the past to the Tremec 6060. Those have been the Transmission of choice by Ford for previous Shelby Mustangs.

The Tremec is also thetransmission of choice in the Dodge Challenger and Viper, the Camaro and Corvette as well.

I wish the photographer got pictures of the seats, even though it is likely to get the optional Recaros in the regular Mustang.

You guy's are good and a lot better at this than I am but...

How in the heck did you discern from that one interior photo that it was the
Getrag Transmission?
