So in my opinion, the low miles 2015-2017 should hold a little more value, right?
I think it is too early to make that determination to be honest, but I see your point. A lot of R&D has been done on the new engine. It might be a complete gamechanger. Who knows?

A 2016 GT Premium was 36,300.
Now it is 39,095, or $2800 more.
I think both prices are before destination charge.
This is without automatic, or any other options.

That's about an 8% increase. I suppose a case could be made that the 2018 is an improvement by 8% over 2016.

I paid $36,800 for a 2011 GT Premium w/ Brembo Package and 401a not including state tax. I pre-ordered the car March 8th 2010.

Today, I would order a GT w/ PP1, I would pay $3200 more for a superior '18 GTPP.

I don't really think pricing is out of hand. If you consistently got less every year, I could understand the complaint. The fact is, most people option GT's up to the $45,000 range. As long as we buy it, they will continue to add it standard.

Ford was aggressive with the '18. It is a far better value than anything on the market.
Except now that same GT Premium 401A would be $41,316.

Option a 2018 Mustang to be roughly the same (leather, brembos, etc)..and you'll find the price is a whole lot closer to $50,000 than $40,000.

Those are Camaro prices. Chevy failing to produce a decent car has caused Ford to increase their prices

I know it has been said before and I am sorry for beating a dead horse.

Wasn't the Mustang supposed to be affordable for the masses? If I were to spec out the same basic car that my 2017 is, it would cost $5,000 more. Mine has one option on it.

I'm just saying that it would be nice if Ford would've kept the Mustang as it was initially intended.
They do. It's called the used market. Mustangs become super affordable once they are barely used.

RVINE, Calif., Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The analysts at Kelley Blue Book www.kbb.com, today reported the estimated average transaction price (ATP) for light vehicles in the United States was $34,968 in January 2017. New-car prices have increased by $1,123 (up 3.3 percent) from January 2016, while falling $453 (down 1.3 percent) from last month.

The above quote is for MY 2017.

Base price for a 2018 Mustang GT Fastback is $35,095 I would call that affordable. Get greedy with the options and you deserve an empty wallet!

It's not really equivalent though....it contains what you have on your 15 plus a significant amount more. It may be stuff you don't want, but it sure as hell isn't equivalent.
Not $6K+ more.....

That 2004 Cobra was the shiznit though. An absolute beast that would dominate nearly everything on the road. Pulley and tune would have you in the 11s easy with a good tire.

True. I ended up going 10's with built aluminum block, diamond pistons @ 9.5:1 CR, yadda yadda, and a whipple. Fun times! That car was scary as hell.

So $29,500 in 2004 is the equivalent of $38,644.84 today.
http://www.saving.org/inflation/inflation.php?amount=1000&year=2004

That makes today's cars look like a steal! For the same money today you get +70 horsepower, I imagine some much improved handling, and some more tech goodies. Safety improvements can't be discounted either.
Considering the level of Mustang he got was in the realm of the GT500 at the time? To a degree, you are correct. But I can tell you that computers do most of the work now so ford is saving on labor and R&D. Probably equals out with the added safety features and some other goodies.

FWIW, news says that Ford has the lowest profit margin at under 5%.
Do you have a reference? Link? Not doubting you, I just want to see the source/ numbers.
