  1. Anyone trade down from a GT to an Ecoboost?

I wonder what the real world gas savings of an Eco over a GT actually is. I get the impression that the turbos are tuned VERY specifically for the CAFE tests but in the real world tend not to be nearly as efficient as the official ratings might lead one to believe. Add to that the big NVH...
  2. Camaro vs Everybody's review of the GT350

The only vehicle a Camaro fan has any right to criticize for outside visibility is an M1 tank in chem-attack lock-down mode.
  3. 2018 mustang

My guess would be a modest 10-20hp bump, mostly to say "Moar Power" in the 2018 brochures. DI would be a likely way to achieve that while also meeting thirst and stink statutes. I don't think we'll see anything bigger than 5.0 because that requires more expensive tech to achieve, too much for a...
  4. Global Warming?

They can look back through a wide range of measurements and means for hundreds, thousands, even millions of years. As opposed to anti-science wacko conservatism? Climatology is what it is, a science, regardless of what any political ideology may think of it. Given that there is no god of...
  5. Shelby GT350 - 7 Reasons I'm Not Buying The 2016 Shelby GT350!

Question for forum moderator I suppose: I wonder if a GT500 is a sure enough thing to start a "Shelby GT5000 Mustang Discussions" sub-forum like the "Shelby GT350 Mustang Discussions" one?
  6. GT350 Kooks long tubes and factory axle back

I like it. While the stock GT350 sounds great, really great, I do think it sounds a bit too much like a really great sounding CPC and missing out on a more distinctive, exotic sound of the distinctive and exotic FPC. Whereas I would say a stock GT350 is 75% CPC V8 / 25% FPC Ferrari in sound...
  7. Flat Plane Engine Vibration?

Quick question for you new GT350 owners: flat-plane V8s have been avoided due to high(er) vibrations levels than bent-crank V8s. So, just how much higher is the vibration levels compared to, say, a regular 5.0? Is it noticeably buzzier? Four-banger level thrashy? Or only a bit rougher than a...
  8. First Mods Done- Window, Headlight & Tail Light Tint Kit

Not to be Negative Nancy, but isn't the point of lights, especially headlights, to be as bright as possible, not dim? I do get tinting the windows, up to a point, what with being in hot sunny Florida and all, but night's just as dark there as anywhere else.
  9. GT350R Mustang Engine/Exhaust Note Sounds

Those AMG have big bent-crank eights though, which might be what lends them to that sound quality. The even pulses of a flat-crank eight I would think would result in a smoother sound, certainly less blatty (those uneven bent-crank pulses trying to shoulder their way down the exhaust system...
  10. GT350R Mustang Engine/Exhaust Note Sounds

I did notice in some of the engine pics that the left rear-most exhaust tube has a bit of a pinch in it for some reason (steering shaft, brake booster clearance or something?). Not sure if 4-2-1 tri-Ys are necessary on an even-pulse flat crank motor over standard 4-1 headers, but yeah, I would...
  11. GT350R Mustang Engine/Exhaust Note Sounds

While I still think they're trying too hard to make it sound at least a bit like a lumpy bent crank V8 rather than a more even bawl of a flat crank motor, it DOES sound great (and no piped in artificial sounds whatsoever (take note BMW))!
  12. GT350 Colors

No recent vids! I want to hear the thing!
  13. Lincoln Continental Concept

Color me impressed -- evidence of life at Lincoln. While not the S550 based Hot Rod Lincoln I was, and still am, hoping for, it looks, finally, like a serious competitor in the large lux sedan market. As many Audi S/RS sedans clearly prove, a modern AWD platform can be a highly compelling one...
  14. 1970 Boss vs. 2015 EB

Lame video basically told me absolutely nothing.
  15. Supercharge the GT350?

My guess is that the next GT500 will be the ultra horse power blown factory Mustang as in the past. I might suspect a slightly debored (back to 5.0) Voodoo block with thicker sleeves to stand up to Hellcat-challenging power levels. It would be curious if they would stick with the flat crank as...
  16. Washington Auto Show GT350 Pics

Agreed and regardless of what I might think of the spoiler aesthetically, I do greatly respect the engineering integrity behind it -- its no useless cod piece like most Mustang (and other cars) spoilers. I might prefer it to be in body color to better integrate with the overall design though.
  17. Driving Stick

Another 53yo here and I've been driving sticks since about 8yo. Well, that was a farm tractor, but still a stick! Anyways, still a stick man today and all the cars I've owned have been manuals. I might reconsider were the GT350 a DCT, but alas no and I'm more than fine with the manual. After a...
  18. Sound of the Shelby GT350R

PS, boy that throttle response/rev-ability that light flat-crank gives it!
  19. Sound of the Shelby GT350R

Ford mentioned that it is intentionally trying to make it sound like an "American V8," which obviously implies more like a CPC rather than FPC V8, which I think is a bit of a shame -- trading away some of the exotic/unique aural qualities of a FPC to sound more like any other lumpier "Murican...
  20. Official: Ford Reveals the Shelby GT350R Mustang!

And just to think, a year ago Ford effectively didn't give a whit about unsprung weight, what with the massive lump of steel an iron, the live axle, flailing away in the stern. Ford's ditched the steel tipped boots for a pair of track shoes.
