Wish I would have seen this thread before I bought something from them. Same deal as the rest. First they blamed shipping delays, next they blamed it being a special order. Then just say it's shipping next week, shipping next week.
The responses come so soon after I send the support email, I...
At this point, I'm only waiting because I have about a bazillion things on my plate right now and I wouldn't have time to install it anyhow.
But an stock, untuned and tuned dyno comparision would be nice to see.
More precise, it extracts the oil from the line that would naturally get back to the intake manifold and thus sent back into the engine to be burned. They say it will reduce the carbon buildup since the oil is no longer there to be burned.
The passenger side is the larger culprit, so most...
Perhaps you will make a custom tune for the PMAS CAI some day. While a stock tune may work fine with it, I bet it could do a bit better with a little extra love.
The engine cover can come out without taking out the shock tower brace. It's tight, but lots of people have done it.
Personally, I just wedged it far enough out of the way to remove the clip and put the new one on without actually removing the cover. At the time I didn't realize it would come...
I had a feeling the real benefit of this system wasn't going to be seen until it was specifically tuned. Not that it's not good all by itself, but with a specific tune, it would show how much a CAI and tune can really do.
I'm thinking a tuner will need to make a custom tune just for this CAI...
The graph says it's not much of a gain down in the rpm range.
You're probably just confused because it sounds so much better. :ninja:
It's hard to really say without data to back up what you're saying. However, the fact that you like the way it feels/sounds is proof enough...
That's my point entirely. The cost benefit is not really relevant. You're going to want a tune with PMAS as well to get the most out of it, thus cost is still CAI + tune + tuner.
Without the tune, the benefit of more air flow is mainly seen on the top end (which the graph shows nicely)...
But the graphs are already out for PMAS without a tune and other CAIs with a tune. The peak may be similar, but the lower half of the CAIs w/ tune have much more clear gains than the PMAS without a tune.
Unless you spend most of your time 5K+ rpm, you're going to want a tune to get the most...
The bolded part is what I'm waiting to see. I'm not sure I agree that there's no reason to believe it won't be higher. PMAS makes it their business to flow air. And all indications are that it flows better than the others. If it flows better, it should give more power.
I'd also like to...
I do realize your dyno run was with only the CAI and no tune. Where the tune may show the gains is on the lower end of the range, where the CAI really showed minimal improvement. Obviously more flow will have a larger impact when you're actually flowing the most air, but less so when the stock...
But I actually want to see this happen. I can't wrap my head around why an off-the-shelf stock tune would be the optimal tune considering the extra volume that should be available to use.
It would be nice if they would partner with one (or more) of the pro tuners to have one specifically built...
I've been holding off purchasing a CAI, and thus also a tune. Not because I don't want either, but the ones I've seen so far don't inspire me. Not to say they're not decent kit, just not inspired.
I have to say, this one seems to have my name on it.
Although, I'm very curious how the dyno...
I had my collision detection system alert me of slowing traffic when I looked down to change channels on the radio and traffic nearly stopped as we crested a hill with an accident on the other side. Unfortunately it was involving a motorcyclist, and he was still laying on the freeway when I got...
