I agree.
Fast idle at start up drives me mad. In our new Outback XT it's frenetic at start up and for an extended period of time too. Must waste so much fuel.
The addition of extractors certainly added rasp. š
With the tune it's also added low down torque. š
I still find, three years later, I'm in 3rd then I thought it was 2nd.
When I had my Pacemakers headers and mid pipe / resonators fitted, I had no check engine light. Did get the car tuned a few weeks later and never drove especially hard prior to the tune.
I had my Pacemaker headers coated by Ceramic Coat Australia (next door to Pacemaker).
For visual appeal I avoided the 'chrome' look as it's dark down in the engine bay and the chrome disappears. Instead I had Dale use a silver and I think it looks terrific.
Certainly no one magic bullet but if I have to say which mod (all listed below) made the greatest difference, I'd say the RLCA spherical bearing.
But that could just be the timing as it was essentially the last thing I did and then everything just felt right.
Interested in people's thoughts:
Car was custom tuned three years ago after installing headers and mid-pipe. Stock rear mufflers were still on then.
Now the exhaust is complete 3" with Varex rear boxes.
Is it worth a re-tune?
Re the colour of the extractors, I initially thought black as well but then settled on silver (definitely NOT chrome), because you can see them and they're a work of art!
About 18 months ago I lost the digital broadcast of ABC 891 (Adelaide). All other digital stations seem to work as does 891 on the AM band.
On the screen DAB+ 891 appears but no sound like it's muted. Ford service has updated the software but still the same.
Any ideas?
I'll second Varex mufflers for taming LTH.
I've got the smart bot that allows you to play with it via the app. Geo mode useful to keep it quiet around home.
Matrix mode interesting; I've made the option of valves only 25% open when throttle open more than 15% and valves completely open below...
