GTS will completely sell out, no question, probably over MSRP in areas. But the two cars aren't even cross-shoppable. They barely are in base form. The M4 and GT350 are very different beasts. M3 is more of a grand tourer, aimed at saving you some gas mileage. The GT350 is a no-compromise RWD...
This is the reality of a dealership that has no clue how to work with a $60,000 car and its customer. They are used to selling econocars all day. This is a big hangup for me and the new GT350. We have an ST, and working with the dealerships is absolutely awful. Totally clueless.
Was kind of hoping the track pack would do away with the blingy chrome interior trim on everything. Aren't Americans sick of that yet? I envision tedious plastidipping in my future..
Don't think the STI is really cross shoppable with a Mustang. I owned one in 09 and have worked on many Subarus. Here's the problem. The EJ motor has not evolved since 2002. It's still 305hp. They really can't do much with it. Even the slightest tune will start introducing issues at high rpms...
Having a Focus ST and an M3 (maybe to be replaced by a Mustang), I would say that you really can't cross shop the three cars. If you want utility, go with the Focus. If your primary goal is only commuting, go with the Fiesta. Driving feel, go Mustang.
The Focus is an insanely well rounded car...
Well said.. changing cam timing is a pretty crude way of achieving what should be done through steering/throttle/traction maps, at least on a run of the mill production car like a GT.
I think you mean they can be optioned to have one. Out of the cars on your list that I'm familiar with, they are either an addon or a deletion. In the case of the M3, it's either a CF roof or a sunroof.
What I'm saying is if Ford can only handle one option in that area, it'll likely be the...
Cost. It costs much more to insert that option into your production stream. I imagine Ford had a debate about it and came to the conclusion that no serious performance car has a sunroof. And left it at that, despite a potential subset of customers wanting it as an option.
Same here.. Ford has finally built something we can switch over to. We have a Focus ST as a DD and it's solid. I've had every single M3 except for an E30. The New M4 seems to be off in outer space as far as BMW DNA goes. I am going to pass, especially after seeing what it will cost Canadians at...
