I’m pretty sure the shorter runners on the GT350 manifold soften the torque curve down low compared to the stock gen2. But pp3 makes slightly more torque down there because FP is able to be more aggressive with timing since the customer agrees to use 91+ octane only.
but that’s on 93. I had...
I had a '87 Shelby Charger GLH-S. Almost nobody I talk to these days has heard of it. It would lose to LX 5.0s, but Shelby Automobiles / Mopar came out with a "Stage 2" chip (swapped out the entire 80's computer in the kick panel) and the tables turned.
Those old turbos with lots of lag were...
there are many aspects of living in CA that are a pain. But the reality is a little different from perception, at least in my experience. I’ve had a Whipple G5S2 on for 4 years now and have not once been harassed or pulled over, etc. I don’t have a front plate and besides one ticket from a meter...
Not to change the direction of this thread but I saw a pic in another thread that reminded me of how badass the S550 looks. I don’t think the S650 will come close in the coming years….
Just to say again….you don’t put a lot of miles on your car…a MILD supercharger like a Roush or Whipple stage 1 with their (excellent, OEM-like) tunes on your existing car will elevate it to something way beyond what any stock or even somewhat modified gen 2, 3 and 4 NA cars will feel like...
It SHOULD be very close, depending on weight (premium vs base, etc). the S650 seems to be about 100 lbs heavier by default. That’s worth about 12hp to you. I think gen3s actually have about 470hp. So makes sense that it’s close if both A10s.
Car and driver got the following trap speed...
Yeah, I know FP thinks it’s safe and even warrantied back in the day. I’ve just never heard a straight answer as to why the stock redline is 7000 when it has B302 internals (except cast pistons) or better and the gen3 with the same rotating parts is redlined at 7400. I think I blame the stock...
I’ve had this happen on my Whippled manual 17. It could be gas pedal related. This happened twice, the first time I just unplugged the pedal position sensor and plugged back in, problem solved. Second time I just restarted and it went away like yours did.
I got my G5 pre-pandemic....seal not broken, inlet showed that fine-grained casting texture, 5 shaft locators and thicker shaft like the others posted above. I agree it's very, very likely that they reduced flow restrictions going to three locators. Like the Beechcraft Bonanza with a V tail...
Could be. There’s nothing in the Roadrunner that lets it live longer than the gen2 at high rpm. But it has a manifold that lets it breathe up there. And the B302 is also limited numbers but I haven’t heard of failures related to wear in them when stock.
I think thedesigners tune the IM to...
Apologies for slightly hijacking this thread, but I've had a question for a long time and this seems to be an opportunity, esp with the people commenting.
If the rotating parts in the gen2 coyote can safely rev out to 7500 (even the warrantied power pack 3 raises the rev limiter to ~7500, so FP...
I have Indy 500s. 255s front, 285s rear. G5S2 Whipple on Whipple tune and 91 octane fuel.
I like the tires in general (decent handling, good wet performance, good price & treadwear). But I can’t go full throttle in 1st or 2nd (manual).
Hope that helps.
