  1. SYNC 3 swap, It's all in here

A glance won't tell you what's inside if it's been opened and modified. But generally speaking the first letter will be a K or higher and the case will look slightly different, like it won't have a physical opening for the second USB anymore. The boards inside look different too.

Correcting some misinformation: Your hardware can run 3.4 no problem. Your POI issue is software issue not hardware. Unfortunately for you, the seller didn't configure it properly. As far as I know, there are no "Chinese knock-offs" .... I had another user send me his POI-not-working eBay...
  3. SYNC 3 swap, It's all in here

Disclaimer, this is a really really long post. Since you contacted me there, you may be aware of the F-150 thread where I help countless people with install issues, for free, because of the back-end knowledge of Sync we have as a result of the exploit. For example, I resolved the MEM_ERR03...
  4. SYNC 3 swap, It's all in here

There's nothing hacked about the software. It's about unlocking the device, much like the FBI had to use a 3rd party contractor to do in the San Bernardino iphone shooting case. There's nothing illegal about unlocking Sync to be repartioned as needed for the official 3.2+ updates. I'm just...

Yes, and I believe that's what the previous poster was referring to in #1588
  6. SYNC 3 swap, It's all in here

The old 4" had a black box module, which wasn't sync 3. The new 4" have a Sync 3 APIM that is almost identical (both in appearance and size) to the older Sync 3 APIMs, but they have 1GB RAM and have the 4" OS installed
  7. SYNC 3 swap, It's all in here

The new style 4" APIMs only have 1GB RAM. Older 8" Nav and non-Nav both have 2GB. IMHO, if I were doing a 3.2+ upgrade, I'd mod an older unit (preferably Nav) before paying for a new style 4" APIM. This is 3.4 running on a modded MY16 non-Nav: Screenshot by Acool posted May 9, 2019 at 12:54 PM
