I was so excited when the integration between Sync 3 and Waze came about, 3 days in I’ve abandebed my dream of using Waze every again on my radio only go revert back to crappy Apple maps. Waze was not very responsive and didn’t communicate well at all :/
very interesting! Lucky you! I guess if you stop to think about it, it kind of makes sense that you were able to do a successful update confirmation because your conversion was a mustang to mustang, the update file that gets put on your USB after update would authenticate as a mustang after all...
You don't even have to make friends lol.
I go to the CarMax website, find a new enough Ford on there (with or without nav) get the VIN to it from the page, go to the ford owner site add in the vin and it will pop up with the software update info, if its needed or not. and even if someone later...
No, what you need to do is find a VIN to a vehicle that has the Sync system you have (nav or no nav) add it to your ford owner page and it will show you if that vehicle has an update, download that update and install it, at least that's how I always update my Edge, I wait for a totally random...
No, you will not be able to get the updates via WIFI, at least I've never been able to after I did my conversion. What issue are you running into with doing the update from the Ford owner site?
The link you are talking about isn’t on here anymore as it’s unofficial and Ford has been cracking down on leaked update files, you’ll have to google it and maybe find it on a forum that ford hadn’t caught the link on yet.
This happens to me atleast once a week, and it’s probably due to me running an iOS beta on my iPhone and having an unofficial Sync 3 update, but usually if it gets to where it just won’t work, I switch ports till the phone gets recognized and occasionally have to go to the extreme of disabling...
I recently did that update as well, and the Wi-Fi pop up was still there too, then I did a master reset, it ace, up afterwards again, I connected to Wi-Fi and it’s been gone since. I don’t know if I did anything special or it was just pure luck that it is no longer there.
Someone posted this guide a few months back. Step by step:
WIFI popup fix
*You must have a WIFI network to connect to. I used my phone as a hotspot.
When WIFI window pops up:
1 Enable the hotspot on your phone (or be able to connect to a trusted wifi)
2 Touch view networks on screen
3 Connect...
Just to be clear though, since I posted last about that work around for the WIFI pop up, from the start 2 windows popped up, the WIFI one is gone, so I guess the process worked.... however I'm still stuck with this one, does anyone else get this?
