I have an American racing headers cat-back for a 15-17 gt with less than 1,000 miles on it, and i'm looking for something a little more raspy. I'd consider trading for a Borla S-type 3" cat-back or a Corsa sport cat-back.
Ok. I guess nobody has removed the 2 1/4" bottleneck from an otherwise 3" inch system to notice if it creates a difference in overall sound. I know that a smaller diameter pipe usually creates a higher pitched, more crackly sound, but this bottleneck is only about 6" long and only just a few...
I have pypes long tube headers with factory connect lead pipes and ARH's pure thunder cat-back. Everything is 3" except that I still have the 2 1/4" factory connect bottleneck. Do you think this is affecting the sound? Would it be worth eliminating the 2 1/4" bottleneck and making it straight 3"...
I bought the touring system and thought it was too quiet. Then I installed catless long tubes and they definitely woke it up. I still felt like I wanted a hair louder, however, and so I bought the x pipe to replace the touring resonator. With the x pipe, I loved the sound at idle and wide open...
I can't find the dementions of the magnaflow resonator. If it's not a decent amount shorter than the resonator that I have on the borla touring system, than I'm not even going to buy it because it won't net me much difference in sound if it's the same length.
I installed a set of Pypes catless long tubes over the winter, and finished them off with Borla's 2.5" touring system (not ford racing). It sounds really good tone wise, but it needs to be a hair louder for my liking. I then found a used x pipe from a 2.5" Borla s-type system and replaced the...
I have a nice corsa extreme cat back with about 1,500 miles on it, and I'm looking to trade just mufflers with somebody who has a nice corsa sport cat back. I live near central Pennsylvania, so if anybody would be willing to meet me somewhere to do the trade let me know. Thanks
Ok, so I found the source of the vibration. I have the borla touring cat-back mounted to my headers, and it turns out that the mid resonator was just barely touching the parking brake cable bracket. The resonator is big enough that it doesn't really allow you to see the parking brake cable...
When reconnecting your motor mount brackets, tighten the bracket to the motor first via the four 13mm bolts, and then lower the engine and bracket onto the motor mount pedestal and tighten the single nut that secures the motor mount bracket to the motor mount. Also, be careful not to jack the...
I just installed a set of pypes last weekend.
First I'd recommend watching Bills install video over at CJPP. It covers the basics, but it also left quite a few things out. Removing the old stuff is pretty cut and dry, and Bills video covers this part pretty well. Removal was honestly pretty...
I read about everybody destroying those connectors, and was careful not to jack the engine that high.
It's almost as though the hood coming in contact with the hood latch is somehow grounding something out. I was also wondering if my computer is still trying to relearn since I had the battery...
Never loosened the actual mounts, just the brackets, and yes, I did loosen the brackets enough to wiggle them around. I guess I could try loosening the two mount nuts, since it's only about a 5 minute job.
Exhaust could be bound up, because I left the mid borla resonator connected to the rear pipes and reinstalled it as one unit (just being lazy). Maybe i'll separate all the pieces and reinstall them one at a time working from the header leads back. I, like you, however, still feel as though the...
I reinstalled the mount brackets today the way we discussed earlier and I still have the vibration. My exhaust is probably no closer than 1/4 inch at the closest point. Not sure if this would be close enough to make contact under load or not. It even vibrates in neutral if I rev it gently to...
The a/c line bracket stud was in fact touching a primary, which I noticed during the install, and I just reached up with a hack saw blade and cut the stud off above the nut. It gave me a good 1/4 inch of clearance, and I watched to make sure that it isn't rubbing when the motor is revved.
The...
