Hey Jim!
Former Chin Instructor Jeremy Lamm here with the black '04 Z.
I agree with the other members that the pad taper is caused from the calipers, not the pads. I had the same problem on my Z with the stock calipers. It lessened when I went to an Essex AP T1 brake kit (12.8"). I also had...
Great review. While I don't own a 350, Sebring is my home track and I have instructed/driven there many, many times and compare your notes to my C5 Z06 days there. I also watched your videos.
If you're experienced, then I would agree that you would quickly reach the limits of the Pilot...
Back in the day when Chin only had two run groups you could get around 4 hours, or close to it.
These days I think it's still near 3 hours all in.
I don't drive anywhere close to what they offer anymore. Between driving and instructing I definitely get the red mist by the afternoon in...
I wore wrestling shoes. For $50 they are hard to beat. I've tried racing shoes on before and they have almost the same feel/weight to them just no fire safety.
I also feel like they give you better pedal feel, especially on braking, over tennis shoes.
Just my $.02...
With Continental GTI slicks on the track and Carbotech XP20/XP10's and an AP T1 12.8" front brake kit my C5 Z06 would do this on the track if I braked hard enough. I always thought it was because I had a front brake kit and stock rears and stronger pads than the rear.
Were you at angle kind...
Mine was a 4x6 and didn't have the tailgate. I had a piece of steel welded on the back so stuff couldn't slide off in case the straps came undone.
The paint did chip easily around the wheel wells. I ended up putting black vinyl front and back from a sign shop on them to stop them from showing...
I ran a Tractor Supply 4x6 utility and that's what I recommend. This way you don't have to bolt anything together and worry about it coming apart, etc. If my Vette could pull it without problems so could a Mustang. Plus, you can fit extra cargo over the small bolt-ons.
I think that is due to the gear ratios, not the motor.
I just sold my C5 Z and it had a 3.42 rear end in it. It would go 150mph in 4th gear. The gears were tall as hell.
A number of guys have switched to 4.10 gears and said it really wakes it up. :)
And nice GT350. That thing looks awesome.
I agree with Chedder. You want toe at 0 or IN.
Toe out makes the car more responsive but less stable overall and is clearly represented in your video.
Look at PFADT's recommended alignment guide. All settings recommend toe-IN on every setting...
I am biased as I am an instructor with Chin but I have been running with them since 2001 when they were much, much smaller, and they have come a LONG way.
I have run with a few other groups and didn't have issues but as some others have stated Chin is a great group. The people are just...
Great save!
As for the settings I would go back and correct those toe adjustments. The back end came out way too easily. I did the exact same thing on my C5 Z one time and the car handled horribly. The back end would come out so fast it was scary and I ended up actually being slower...
Indeed the Cup 2's are sticky, but I believe the guy was stating life with the Super Sports tracking.
1 day would be terrible! haha
Although after reading up many guys on the Corvette forums are toasting their Z06 pads in 2 days at the track.
Yikes. I thought the brake pads would hold up better than that on street tires. If you threw a set of slicks on it sounds like you would get 1-2 days max.
Do they make a brake duct kit for the 350?
