Drained and filled the transmission (M6) and differential at 50K miles. Went with the BG Syncro Shift II + MGC for the trans, but stuck with the MotorCraft fluids in the diff. We'll see how it goes. My garage smells "wonderful" still...
Next up... wash, wax, and switch back to the summer...
If you log into the Ford Owner website, you should be able to download the owner's manual. There is a basic list in there (at least there was for 2016). Good place to start.
Other things I've been doing are to check the wheel bearings, steering linkage, brake pads, etc. every fall when I swap...
Look into replacing the coolant. The anti-corrosion additives get consumed over time. I believe it is recommended to replace the coolant after 5yrs and every 3yrs after that. (could be remembering that incorrectly)
I have also noticed that my car is very hard on batteries. Likely due to all...
2016 GT Premium, 50K miles (FRPP stage 2 performance pack)
Warranty:
When new, had to replace the stereo head unit, followed by the USB port.
Post Warranty:
A while back, had loose valve cover bolts resulting in a leak with smoke. I re-torqued them and no additional leaks so far.
More recently...
Hard water contains the dissolved calcium (and other minerals).
Softening water with a unit that you put salt into exchanges the calcium for sodium. Sodium is nicer than calcium because it is easier to redissolve and remove. But the TDS is unchanged. Only swapping calcium and sodium 1:1.
A...
I have used DI in my wash bucket from time to time as well. If not DI then softened (the soft may leave residue, but they are a lot easier to clean off than hard water stains). Usually the soap itself is what leaves residue requiring a re-wipe if it dries.
My number 1 rule for parking is never...
I have a CR Spotless system. When I asked them about this same thing (knowing when to replace the resin), they said to Hawkeye the surface when above zero and to not let over 20ppm dry on the paint. It has been quite a while so I could be remembering it wrong and wouldn't want to put words in...
The only thing you had to purchase was the lid? I. E. The GT500 lid attaches right onto the GT350 box with no additional pieces?
I have what is presumed to be a competely sock GT350 box as was supplied in the Ford Performance Power Pack 2 kit.
Thanks for the info. Really adds perspective to whether the cost and hassle are worth it. Although for the clean appearance and to stop the paint from getting rubbed off the underside of my hood, the $200 is probably worth it and the slight IAT improvement could be considered just gravy...
I ended up painting them with the G2 epoxy paint in Ford Magnetic. I was hoping to spray them since Magnetic is metallic, but the sprayer that G2 sells clogged up before completing the first caliper so I ended up brushing them anyway. The metallic turned out OK with carefully applied brush...
I seems like it took forever to find an opportunity to paint the calipers and detail the car with the spring weather raining every week...
Here are the photos:
I have the OPT Arrows. The pin in the connector has corroded and eroded.
The trouble is that there is no such connector in the vehicle's original wiring. This replaces the light bulb socket. The female connector, which is part of the OEM wiring, is part # 3U2Z-14S411-FHAB (also called...
They are summer tires, might be a while unless I setup a photo op.
Also, would like to have the calipers painted for the photo.
I'm leaning toward the G2 caliper paint in Magnetic. I'm imagining something between black and the uncoated factory aluminum (mine are dingy now, so a little darker...
I dropped the wheels off at the shop to be blacked out. Should get them back early next week. Ordered the black 5.0 emblems.
Now I just need to find a set of black take-offs to replace my winter wheels.
Definitely no logos. I'm thinking another option would be to black out the wheels and go with the G2 color match to the Ford OEM "Magnetic". Not sure if that is dark enough though. Looking for some type of dark gun metal so that it has a little contrast to the black wheels and resembles a...
Thanks for the pics and ideas. If anyone else has a RR with different color calipers, please post.
I have been thinking about blacking out the wheels and the 5.0. Black or perhaps dark gunmetal, charcoal or OEM Cast silver / clear are moving to the top of the list, if I get the wheels...
I have a 2016 Ruby Red California Special. Over the years, the calipers have started to collect stains (maybe corrosion?). My thought is to sand blast them and then paint them to prevent the gungy look from returning. What would be the best color for the calipers?
I have been thinking about...
