  1. E3 Spark Plugs for 5.0 - Yes / No?

I understand about the orientation of the ground electrode and it makes sense not to impede the flame propagation. That being said, there appears to be a fair amount of confidence that having multiple side electrodes improves the width of the flame front and hence leads to more complete...
  2. E3 Spark Plugs for 5.0 - Yes / No?

Can't find much info on the use of E3 plugs on my 2015 S550 5.0. Searched on plugs and found some discussion on NGK and Brisk as well as Motorcraft but nothing on E3. Anyone using the E3.74's. Would appreciate any pros & cons. The only thing I found elsewhere was a reference to the car...
  3. Trunk Sound Deadening - Dynamat, Damplifier, etc.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the VB-4.5 Sound Damping Pad and I'm glad it worked out well for you. In essence I constructed the same sound-deadening sandwich and placed it over the adhered Boom Mat covering, including an added panel between the trunk and cabin. The results were quite...
  4. Trunk Sound Deadening - Dynamat, Damplifier, etc.

Just an update about that Noico self-adhesive closed cell foam. https://www.amazon.com/Noico-Insulation-Self-adhesive-Deadening-Automotive/dp/B00URV8MFC/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1476069332&sr=1-6&keywords=noico+sound+deadener The adhesive melts right off of the foam when used...
  5. 2015-up Convertible Owner Survey

Thanks for all your responses. Just FYI, the top is up all the time when the car is not being used as yet the creases and wrinkles fail to fall out. The dealership and Ford Customer Service are now in conversation regarding this problem so hopefully it will be resolved soon.
  6. Vibrating metallic noise?

5.0AVP- The muffler shop (James & Dean Muffler & Brake in Brookfield, IL) who installed my Gibson cat-back says that one of the first things he usually does is to eliminate that restrictive flex joint and refashion a new transition pipe to the resonator, H, or X pipe connection area. I didn't...
  7. 2015-up Convertible Owner Survey

Had to have the top on my 2015 GT replaced due to a small seam tear and the new one from Ford just looks like crap. OE top put on by the dealer but it quickly developed hard wrinkles and stretchmarks above the front seats where the guide tethers are attached. The original top displayed none of...
  8. Convertible aftermarket rear wing

Just swapped out the oem unit for the MMD by Foose on my 15 convertible and love it. You may have to "encourage" the shorty antenna to lean out just a fraction so the wing end will miss it when you open the trunk. Not sure if the antenna placement on the 17 is identical to the 15. Good luck.
  9. Vibrating metallic noise?

Had the same type noise start up on my 2015 convertible with a Gibson cat-back after driving up some steep hills with curves and having to downshift constantly to prevent from lugging the engine. It sounds like a thin metal heat shield vibrates against something when accelerating from low...
  10. Trunk Sound Deadening - Dynamat, Damplifier, etc.

gundam83: I had read the article which you quoted among various others. Since I like the sound of the exhaust system except for the drone, my intention was to stop or reduce the resonating of the metal panels with the Boom mat and then to isolate what remained with the CCF decoupler and MLV. Not...
  11. Trunk Sound Deadening - Dynamat, Damplifier, etc.

The drone at cruising rpm from my new Gibson cat-back system on my 2015 convertible was driving me crazy so I read up on vibration and sound insulation hoping to tone it down and keep the exhaust system. The entire trunk was covered in Boom mat first as well as portions of the rear quarter...
  12. Cold Air Intake

The Steeda unit has high quality components compared to some others I had considered before buying the Steeda. I didn't want to do a tune right now but wanted to have the ability in the future. Initially after the install I had some questions but the folks at Steeda, as well as the members of...
  13. MBRP Street Drone?

I've been looking for a solution to the horrific drone I get at a cruising RPM of 1200 to 2000 in 5th or 6th ever since I installed a Gibson cat-back system. Passengers have said that it wasn't just the church-organ-like noise but that they felt this pressure in their head from it. The car is a...
  14. fog light bezels, new take offs

    Do you still have them?
  15. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

Spoke with Steeda (Rod?) again today about this loose fitment of the sleeve onto the air filter snout and if that could be the cause of the AFR variations. He informed me that the sleeve should tighten down without leaks and if a leak were to occur, my Check Engine light would come on. He has...
  16. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

That bulge looks about like mine and it's caused from the small ridge on the outer lip of the black composite elbow being about 4.626+" OD while the sleeve ID is only 4.5". It's the fit of the other end of that sleeve on the aluminum where I had the big gap since the aluminum is actually necked...
  17. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

Dee See Figure 7 of the Steeda instruction for the 555-3193 CAI. That band clamp next to the MAF mounting is the one which I had to really crank down to get the sleeve to seal (or so I thought). I did not notice the sleeve bulging out anywhere after tightening so I'm not sure what that issue is...
  18. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

During a bench check before the install I had some concern about the large size of the coupling sleeve (4.5" ID) at the MAF end when the mating aluminum tube measured 4.25" OD. I called Steeda and one of their techs said that was the case normally and just be sure to tighten it down good. I...
  19. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

Sorry, the restrictor sleeve is in place and no tune. Basically just a swap-out for the OEM intake.
  20. AFR Gauge "jumpy" After Steeda CAI Install

Just finished installing a Steeda CAI on my 2015 GT 5.0 and after double checking everything, started her up to find that the AFR gauge which I have set to display was not stable at 14.0 as it had been at idle but was jumping up and down a couple of hash marks around 14.0. The restriction...
