It sucks to hear this especially when they only had to make so few units. I will say I'm not completely shocked though. I love the car and have wanted one badly since it was unveiled but with all the uncertainty going on right now I think I'll just mod my 09 and perhaps Whipple the Vert....One...
Saw your video the other night on YT. Great detail on the process(I've never ordered a car before) feel like I'm educated on the process now. The car is stunning. Enjoy and make us some more videos.
I'd be all in for that as a Ford fanboy but at some point they're going to have to follow GM into a mid engine platform imo to keep up on the track....as a S197 and S550 owner the backseat of my cars are as useless as tits on a bull anyway...lol may as well figure out a way to shove a Predator...
Shorter track and the C8 wins and longer track favors the long legs of the GT500. I don't dislike the C8 but I'd certainly wait til the ZO6 version comes along due to the wider body as someone else mentioned.
What I'm more interested as a bench racer is how close the CFTP can come to the C8 Z06...
Nobody who is serious about tracking a car is going to be out there in a vert although the S550 with magnaride like my pp 18 with gt350 springs is worlds better than any of the S197 verts....still that's why I said leave most of the upgraded track stuff off. A great looking, collectible, stanced...
I'm not going to say one way or the other but to the guys who keep bringing up the spoiler/wing....you do realize a fastback spoiler/wing DOES NOT fit a S550 vert....right?
Ok I know I'm only talking to a select few here but how cool would it be if Ford left off some of the "track" specific...
Kinda looks like the base GT350 wheels which are great looking to me.....maybe since verts aren't track focused they could match an 10R80 trans to the Predator and sell it starting in the mid 60's....c'mon Ford, give this mid 50yo guy something to get a chubby over and keep him away from buying...
I think half assed would be a good term to describe this car. I never remember the Mach 1 being a track focused car anyway but more of a street bruiser.
They should have given this thing the GT350 heads cams and intake and a flex fuel key where you can bring it up to about 550 crank HP and offer...
I still find the C7 Z06 to be special car even if their production numbers are higher....Ya have to respect that kind of performance and the differences between the lower models(Stingray/ Grand Sport) are enough to set it apart to anyone who knows cars. The way this China flu is dragging out it...
The little C8 gets it. Hell with bolt ons and maybe some e in the tank who knows.
I love Ford but I often question some of the things they go with on higher end stuff. Like maybe they should go a 335 tire in the rear like a Z06 and ZR1....Get rid of that delay in the DCT or offer a variant that...
:cwl: I was wondering the same whenever I've watched his track day videos. Hey even if he is at least he's not using that as clickbait this time...More track videos less clickbait and this guy could be one of the few I'd sub to....
I think this shows that while the base GT500 may be faster the C8Z51 maybe a better overall track option for the majority of "average type" guys who may want to track their cars...More advanced drivers would probably option for the faster variants, CFTP or Z06 when they're more readily...
When he doesn't resort to clickbait he's not too bad. Pretty good summary and matches what we've seen and heard from both cars. Would like to see lap times between the C8 and his GT350. Does anyone know if he has installed the camber plates on the 500?
