I need a HUGE favor, and I hope someone here can help. I have a 2017 GT that came stock with Sync 3/Apple CarPlay. The front USB port in front of the shifter has stopped supporting CarPlay and MP music files, and the first dealer I took it to said it's a charge-only port. I troubleshot it down...
Has anyone running a TomTop 8" system tried one of these CarPlay dongles? This one says it can run on a Win CE 6.0 system, which I believe is the OS for theTomTop...
Do you have any documentation lying around indicating whether you used a 14D202 B or 14D202 D hub-to-front console cable? Looks like the B was discontinued and replaced by the D.
It may be a stretch, but what if the B is the 15-16 cable, and the D is 2017 up? They put a B in my car. This may...
When I remove the armrest hub, you can see that all 3 cables that plug into the hub are wrapped together in that fabric-type tape wrap used by the factory. To replace separate cables, the tape would have to be peeled away, cable replaced, then fabric tape reapplied.
I guess what upsets me most is their insistence that they have proof Carplay doesn’t work through the front port on 17+ mustangs. The fact that mine did before they worked on it...they just have nothing. I’ve had good success with this dealership for years. This blatant BS to make me go away...
Exactly! Both cables are sourced separately. I can’t find a part number for both cables wrapped together as a harness assembly. If they replaced just one cable, would they have gone through the trouble of unwrapping and re-wrapping? It still looks OEM.
As much as I hate to have to do it, I guess I’ll disassemble the bezel/front panel to access the APIM and check. However, with the APIM ports being keyed, I don’t think it’s possible to plug my black premium harness into the grey port on the APIM.
I just pulled the armrest hub. The cables are port-specific, and keyed to the correct port. I did notice that both cables are still covered in the factory wrap. If they replaced just the front port console cable, do you think the tech would have bothered re-wrappedIng the cables together? I hate...
Still waiting on the paperwork from the dealer to see which cable they replaced and the PN. Before they gave up, they replaced the armrest hub, the APIM (twice), and a cable. I’m wondering if the cable ports on the armrest hub are cable-specific? I’m assuming it’s plugged into the correct APIM...
You may want to check yourself (just kidding). According to my service writer here, they did EXTENSIVE research with Ford, and other Ford dealerships, they have determined that you cannot use Apple CarPlay through the front hub of a Mustang. Of course, no explanation for why my front hub...
Dealer has officially given up. They say they have done lots of research, and their finding is that the 17 and up Mustangs do not support apple car play through the front USB hub...only the armrest. Problem is, ours worked through the front hub until they got their hands on it. So, am I...
Well, they replaced the APIM and still charge only...no CarPlay. I asked again if it could be the replacement harness, and they assured me it tests good. So, another APIM is on order.
I’m still not optimistic the APIM is the culprit. We shall see.
Having a similar problem on our 17 GT. Service replaced cable harness and problem got worse. Now they want to change the APIM. I’ll let you know how that goes.
