As it wears, properly cared for leather can last for years and look good, while Alcantara looks worn out and really tacky, and I'd rather clean spilled coffee from leather than Alcantara...

CF makes sense and is a boon when weight/strength is an issue, but IMO it's a fad like vinyl tops in the '60s and '70s that will play out with the next "bright and shiny" goodie from the Marketing Dept...
