When I was 12 years old, I watched my dad drive his manual chevy vega (one of the worst cars ever made, but his was reliable). I watched his footwork closely. How he let the clutch out until it began to engage as he lightly applied throttle. Once it engaged he stopped letting it out (slipped...
Another option is JL audio stealth box. Fits similar to the Shaker but would require an amp. Not sure about the price on the ford shaker sub but the stealth box is costly. They have mostly good/great reviews.
The cost of development for the sophisticated electronics/drivetrain may have been at a premium when the GT-R was designed. These electronics are like the iPhone 4s compared to our iPhone 6s. The reason the GTR is so expensive in todays dollars vs the $79,000 my brother payed for his brand new...
RWD IS fun on a road course. Lack of traction is not so fun on a dragstip or against that teenager with a WRX STI on a 60 Degree day at a stoplight. If you want fun with RWD, buy a GT350.
'14 GT500 3845 lbs
current Nissan GTR weight per Nissan website - 3922 lbs
You have a valid point regarding the cost of an AWD GT500 but how much more does a AWD system cost? I doubt it's a $30,000 addition.
I think the platform for the new Camaro is based on the cadillac ATS - which comes with AWD. The hellcat can apparently also package AWD. We might be at a disadvantage if ford can't package AWD until the next re-design.
The Hellcat already spots us 715 lbs. Packaging may be an issue, but the GT500 is fords halo drag strip car and HP/AWD traction trumps weight when it comes to 1/4 mile times. Case in point: the Nissan GTR weighs more than the GT500, yet blows the '13 GT500 and Hellcat away in real world in the...
I agree with 9secondko on AWD as a possibility. I may have been the first to mention AWD in the GT500.
I noticed on Jalopnik today that Dodge has an AWD Challenger at SEMA. I think these manufacturers have come to realize that if you want to put a car that has 700+ horsepower on the street...
It's the odd number of speakers that makes me wonder. Any coax should still result in an even number. Is there a center front channel for the sync that they count as the 7th speaker, or is the 7th speaker a sub?
The ordering guide suggests the sound system has 7 speakers. The ford website configurator indicates 7 speakers if you click on the "info" button under "tech pack". Then if you click info on the "premium AM/FM stereo" it says 9 speakers. I tend to trust the ordering guide due to the other...
Does anyone know if changing the color on your order will put your order "back to the end of the line" in terms of build order? Found a dealer who will do MSRP but color is already ordered. White with blue stripes. I like the color but my first choice would be Magnetic with black stripes...
This may have been discussed already, but one thing to consider is that production numbers may be limited due to the CAFE fuel efficiency standards. The more gas guzzlers a manufacturer sells, the lower the Corporate Average becomes. Maybe these production numbers are too low to make a dent in...
Dealer owner locally (who I know personally) says he has an agreement with his other business partners to sell these SVT/Shelby limited production models for $5000 over MSRP for the regular customer and $3000 over MSRP for the guys they know. I'm first on the list for the allocation. They only...
Slightly off topic but adding 2 cylinders to the end of a 60 degree v6 has been done before. I think the previous taurus SHO V8 was 60 degree. There are some balance issues inherent in the design, but the engineers have demonstrated that balance issues are not an insurmountable challenge (FPC...
I agree. Spillover into the F150 line is also a possibility but I was thinking the SuperDuty line. I have heard a lot of complaints (just from friends who have owned them) about the 6.2L being a dog.
I think TT coyote makes a lot of sense. A TTV8 would sell like hotcakes in the SuperDuty F-series. I can see ford spreading the development costs on this engine to the truck line and modifying it to their Halo Mustang. There is a precedence for this as the previous GT500 had a modified...
Like a 2.7L V6 in a truck wouldn't be an F150 anymore? How 'bout aluminum? A lot of naysayers have been proven wrong on these issues. Ford has demonstrated an ability to think outside the box and do something unexpected. Even with a model as sacred to the company as the F150 or mustang...
