  1. Getrag MT82

Remote shifter is a major potential issue with manual applications of current - most get it wrong, few get it right. Seems most companies compensate towards NVH vs functionality. The good ones allow multi-axis movement.
  2. Getrag MT82

Keep in mind I am not trying to indicate your particular transmission didn't have an issue. I quoted it as a relevant segment into my points. The TR6060 is the OEM version of the T56 Magnum. They are very similar. The difference is the TR6060 has, mixed into it, various minor OEM tweaks for...
  3. Getrag MT82

This is actually an interesting question. The GT350 has a different clutch than the GT. The GT, Bullitt and Mach 1 seem to have the same clutch. Would be nice to have a confirmation on what the Bullitt, Mach 1 and GT have from the factory.
  4. Getrag MT82

The lockout issues in the S197 GT500 TR6060 was largely #1 the OEM clutch and #2 the OEM shifter. The same goes for the MT82 when it first came out in 2011 for the Mustang - the clutch and the shifter. The OEM Ford clutches lacked clutch reserve and were susceptible to high-RPM...
  5. A052 vs RE71RS autocross

There should be 305/30R19 in the RE-71RS next year.
  6. Brake Bias Question #KnowledgeTransferMonday

That's because, from the hydro-mechanical standpoint of the brake system, front vs. rear, they are pretty similar, actually, between the 6th Gen PP 6-piston brakes and the GT350. Yeah, the GT350 rears do produce more force than the single-piston PP brakes, but it isn't a crazy amount. The...
  7. Mustang GT4 at Road America

All the Mustang GT4's had issues during the race to some degree. The race was quite the mess. The race director was getting pretty upset just mid-way through the race due to all the cautions and car "argy-bargy". As for the Mustang's in particular, the #40 had to go behind the wall for a short...
  8. Replaced Voodoo Engine

Take this with a grain of salt: Last year I had a, let’s say, dealer friend look up the warranty records of 25 of the highest milage (lowest cost) GT350’s within my area. Most were GT350’s, only a few were R’s. It was something like 13% had a replaced engine at least once. If memory serves, all...
  9. Cup 2 track day tire life or another tire for Hpde?

If you just look at various people's lap times you could assume that. Really, you need to look at someone who has changed just basically tires and seen a significant drop in time at the same track. With that, because the RS4 has good endurance and durability, you will see a lot of competitive...
  10. Cup 2 track day tire life or another tire for Hpde?

Actually, having spent considerable time on both tires, although not the same vehicle, I disagree: the Supercar 3 has higher grip than the RS4 - a faster lap time potential. SC3 has similar endurance to the RS4. The RS4 is better on a wet track and more longevity due to tread depth/tread design.
  11. Spied: 2021 Bullitt Mustang Refresh?

I think I may be wrong from the last speculation I had on this car: it looks like Ford is doing some changes to the 2018-20 front fascia to, likely, incorporate some kind of cooling. If you look real close at these recent spy shots, you can see two things: 1. there is a larger opening at the...
  12. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

Some fun weight comparisons for you guys: Pure Body in White: Camaro= 650 lbs Challenger= 890 lbs Mustang= 760 lbs Front Subframe: Camaro= 24 lbs Mustang= 60 lbs Rear IRS+Cradle: Camaro= slightly heavier than Mustang* Mustang= slightly lighter than Camaro* Percent Steel Usage (overall car)...
  13. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

The car in the thumbnail is not any of the cars in the video. The ZL1 1LE used in the video is grey and you can plainly see it has very little negative camber. TH used a regular ZL1, a blue car, for the drag race. There was no blue ZL1 1LE used in the video. Not sure why there is a blue ZL1 1LE...
  14. 2021 Mach 1 Mustang Prototype Spied on The Prowl?!

Sounds like the Mustang PP2 that should've been... My feeling is along with your thought process: this will be a mash-up of Mustang GT PP2, Bullitt and GT500/GT350. Knowing how Ford likes to straight-up parts bin/cheap-out, this is my revision: Mustang GT fascia with revised turn signal/aero...
  15. 2020 GT500 First Engine Issue ROD KNOCK

All production cars, at least the North American ones, end up going on a dyno and a quick systems check at the very end of the production line. If any of you happened to catch StangModes Flat Rock video before it was taken down, you'd have even seen this. Engine issues, like a spun rod, can...
  16. Speed Phenoms GT500 has clutch overheating problem on drag strip pass

Anyone familiar with the Focus/Fiesta DCT will not be surprised by this "issue" that showed up in this kids video (especially those in San Francisco). More likely to happen in the Focus/Fiesta since that is a dry clutch though (and because those vehicle's transmission were tuned to try and...
  17. BBQ Tick After Oil Change...

  18. I just blew my stock 2017 GT350R motor with 4700 miles

Mechanical over-rev can't be protected. Shift into the wrong gear or down shift too early as you are slowing for a corner on track...
  19. "Mustang Mach E" Confirmed, Reservations Begin Immediately After Nov 17 Live-Streamed Reveal

Eh, I think Ford will use the Mustang name in expansion to showcase specialty stuff. I see Mustang being car and SUV/CUV, a slow phase out of ICE, and what is there will be high-po. Chevy did a similar thing with Camaro, expanding it into a SUV/CUV... Just it's called "Blazer" haha. Grab those...
