What size line are you using for vacuum reference? Bv57 requires at least -4an or larger line. Anything smaller and you will have those issues.

I argued that with them as well. Mechanically they are very simple and almost identical internally. Should just need a seal and bearing upgrade. Maybe have to delete the slinger. I do not see the issue with identical step up ratios.

It's the tolerance between the impeller and volute. Vortech utilizes a tighter tolerance than other manufacturers.

If you wont ever exceed 700 the RST might be fine. However anything north of 750 and she will spin and smoke. So I honestly have no clue how long it would even last at lower levels.
