Hi Guys
I am looking to pick up a handful of tools to do some do it myself work on my 07 GT and my LE.
First I am looking for a good floor jack and set of jack stands. For the jack I am currently looking at the following...
I am still debating if I am simply going to swap out the damaged rim for the new or making a whole new assembly with tire and all.
Does anyone know if the tires on the LEs are run flats or not?
The dealer, and myself, was able to sort out the parts by the VIN. Also, the LE and anniversary appearance package rims have one very distinct difference, the size
The LEs have 19x9 in the front and 19x9.5 in the rear, while the appearance package has 19x8.5 all around.
Right, a $50 deposit on a $1,000+ rim is just nuts.
I'm out of town for the weekend so won't be getting to the rim anytime soon, but does anyone know what the yellow tab on the rim saying "peel here" is? I recall these being on all the rims when the car came into the dealer initially.
Anyone...
With the tax and the "core deposit" the rim ran around $1,200. Believe it or not they charge a $50 deposit on the rim. If I return the old damaged one I get $50 back.
Y2K you're right it's on the rear.
Just picked up my new rim from from the dealer today. I haven't had too much time to mess with it yet, but I see it came with the same yellow tab that all my rims had when the car first arrived. Does anyone know if this is a protective film on the rim?
Thanks for the condolences guys, lol. Although little it still eats at me. The sidewall was just scuffed up a bit doesn't appear to be punctured. I can live with the tire as is for now, but am I debating making the new rim a complete wheel and tire. The damaged one I can store as a full-sized spare.
So I went ahead and ordered a new rim from my dealer, but was thinking of still possibly sending out the damaged one to be repaired, if possible.
Was wondering if anyone from the tri-state area (or not too far away) knows any good rim repair shops?
SVTFreak,
Curious how the touch up paint worked for you. I got a little bit of damage to my rear bumper this weekend as was thinking of trying my hand at touch-up paint before going to the body shop option. Any tips/suggestions?
Does anyone know the part number for the LE wheels? I am waiting on a quote from my dealer for the wheel, but was looking on fordparts.com as well. If I found the right one (1007A) they look to be around $1,000 a wheel.
Today is a terrible day for me! Less than 100 miles on my LE and I got the first bit of damage to it.
I was backing the car down the drive way and cut it a bit too close to the fence and scrapped the car along it. I got 3 scratches along the wheel-well and the rim got some bad curb rash...
After a cover mishap and much hassle from many car cover retailers I finally got the design I wanted. Also got it for less than the original incorrect order.
Couldn't get a good shot of the front due to limited space, but it has the same two lower lines as the rear on the grille section...
