After only 1,800 miles (2 months) from last oil change - are these accurate?

Have you been track heavy in these last 1800 miles?

Did you manually reset the oil life in the menu the last time you changed it?

Dealer says they probably forgot to reset it (I didn't personally).

No track use but spirited driving on the street.

I'm curious if it is on a mileage timer of some sort or if it is intelligent enough to monitor oil life and tell me regardless of reset or not that the oil does indeed need to be changed.

I have 3 race days and 4000 miles since my last oil change, and the oil status is at 34%.
I don't baby the car as a daily driver.

It monitors your usage and the timer reflects that. It doesn't just add up the miles. It doesn't know whether the oil is new or old if it hasn't been reset when the oil was changed, though.

Sounds fairly useless so far.

Mine just told me 5% life left at 1800 miles. I baby it.

I forgot to reset it when I changed it at 1700 miles.

Not sure but the oil was clean when it came out.

Mine went off exactly one year after delivery. Only 3000 miles. I think it's on some sort of timed alert.

After the first oil change, I plan on sending out samples to Blackstone labs to monitor when I need to change the oil.

Mine came on very early after very modest track day. I thought maybe the dealer had somehow triggered it after they did the oil line recall, but how? I'm sure I didn't have 750 miles on the car since the last oil change. Very weird.

Took me a hell of a long time to find it! Forgot to reset mine, too.

I suspect the monitor takes time, mileage, number of cold starts and other sensor data into account.

On a side note, I cut my filter open after my first oil change (~1500 miles) and there was nothing in it except oil - no FOD whatsoever.

My F150 shows the total hours running and total hours idling on the oil life screen. I suspect those both impact the calculation, even if not displayed on a gauge.

I changed my oil before storing the car for winter in December, and when I took her out in April oil was 60% life. Less than 200 miles driven.... I now have about 45% life, and about 800 miles on oil.

I will change it for the sake of it with Amsoil before my first track day.
