Why do they need to have different front and back wheels, if they are just 0.5" different in width and have the same tire size?

That just prevents tire rotation front to rear, which is so important to extend Cup2 tire life on track.

I was almost sure I'd order a 1LE for the spring, but this now gives me pause. I'll have to wait for some tests (like a Randy lap time or so) before I decide.

Oh, also, why is Ford so resistant to putting a Brembo caliper in the rear. Even the base Camaro SS and the V61LE has them?!!! It makes it such a pain in the ass to change rear pads on track (removing calipers, vs punching two pins and sliding new pads in).

Get ready to be embarrassed.
I wouldn't be so sure of that now that it's 19x10.5 and 19x11 with 305 SC2's all around. That's quite a lot more tire than the SS 1LE, and makes more power than the 15-17.

Where'd you get that quote?

If this GTPP 2 does match the GT350 you're going to see some butthurt in the GT350 subsection. I can see the excuses now.

"Yea but FPC FPC FPC FPC FPC!"

"Yea but resale reaale resale!"

"Yea but the '18 is still ugly!"

"Gt350 sounds better, is more rare,, has a Shelby badge, revs to 8250 RPM."
Sounds like you're making quite a few assumptions here...it's called "progress." Can't be the best forever.

If the Recaros are not included, they'll push the price for a 301A, active exhaust, PP2, Recaros to $~47k.

What color is the car in the original post? Race red?

The verbiage is a bit vague, but to me it sounds like they are included and people just select cloth/leather depending on the trim.
It's vague, but I think they are included, with the option of leather or cloth. Who knows if the leather will be an added cost.

JR
That would be an outstanding value if they were.

For $2500 over PP1 you would get Magnaride which is $1700 by itself and Recaro's which are $1600 by themselves which combined are normally $3300. For PP2 it would be like getting all of the rest of the PP2 package for minus $800!

It would also make the PP1 obsolete. I think they are trying to give us 1LE performance and hit the same $45k sticker, but Recaro's like the active exhaust will still be optional.

Either way, glad to see Ford upped the game. It changes my opinion of MY18!

Might have to do with wheel offsets and fitting with the struts.

Are these 30 series tires? I might have missed it.

If so, the GT will gain a small, but not unsubstantial gearing advantage.

I estimate another mph or two in the 1/4. It’ll also help with the 7500rpm redline too.

You sir are actually one of few GT350 owners who actually browse and comment in the open forum so my comment wasn't really aimed at you. I do gotta admit the GT350 sound is hard to beat, but if someone can get 98% of the performance for 70% of the price, why not? I'm counting OTD price on both, GT350 would be $65k GTPP2 $45k.
I’m calling it now, this GT should equal or beat the non-R GT350 on a track, if its super twisty.

If it’s a higher speed track, the HP of the 350 will prevail. You can’t really compare cup tires to MPSS on the 350. This new GT will take it.

Could be. But in this case tires are exactly the same (width, diameter, etc) - would make sense to try to get the wheels be the same.

I like to go t the track with 4 identical tires on the wheels and one in the trunk. Get a flat - change and continue, vs ruining a trip to the track.

This 0.5" is making this hard.

"It’s highlighted by a lower stance, a redesigned front splitter and rear spoiler, and 305/30/R19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrapped around split-fitment aluminum wheels – 19x10.5-inch front and 19x11-inch rear."

It was mentioned earlier. The tires are 305/30 on all four corners with two different width wheels. 10.5 fronts and 11 rear. Wouldn't it make more sense for a track car to have the same sidewall flex on all four corners? The rears are going to be a tad stretched compared to the fronts. Plus like another post mentioned no rotating.

It's almost sacrilege to some (including myself) but the 10-speed auto in a PP2 would be killer.
