Hi folks,

I'm just interested in finding out if there are enough people interested in the 19" rims in stock GT350 size in the HRE R101 LIGHTWEIGHT version.

If we could get enough critical mass maybe they will consider making it and we might have a sub 19lbs rim that's both strong and light.

For reference here is the GT350 size:

Front Wheel: 19x10.5 30mm offset weight is 31lbs. (30.95lbs. to be exact)

Rear Wheel: 19x11.0 62mm offset weight is 31lbs. (30.85lbs. to be exact)

So if I see enough people replying on this thread, I propose we should start a count, similar to the Ford Performance spring group buy thread.

Cheers! :headbang:

Some photos of the wheel in question. Since it's custom made to order you can select any finish we offer, but here are a few examples so you know what wheel he's referring to. Some close up shots to see how much milling is done on the side of the spokes to remove as much weight as possible as well as the deep pocketing which makes this wheel unique. Looking forward to seeing your responses on this! :)

How much would these cost, or is this just a thread to simply gauge interest?

I would absolutely love to, but I can't rationalize spending 6-8k just on rims. They are awesome though.

Depend on weight and price. Am I willing to spend 8k for 22lb/wheel? No.
But I'm willing to spend that much for sub 20lb/wheel.

Here's some weight specs on the HRE R101's that I just received.

Application: GT350R
Front: 19x11
Rear: 19x11.5

Wheel weight:
Front: 20.5 lbs
Rear: 21.5 lbs

Tire weight:
Front: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 305-30-19: 31 lbs
Rear: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 325-30-19: 32 lbs

Total weight:

Rear: 53.5 lbs

I'll post pictures when I get them on the car.

To give you an example the 19x11 R101 Lightweight we do for a BMW M2 weighs 17.20lbs, but remember this is specific to the M2, not a GT350 or GT350R yet. We would have to design the wheel and physically produce it before we can give an accurate figure, but all of the 19" R101 Lightweight wheels we produce are under 20lbs.

I think the issue is once you're in the range of $2k a wheel you're then approaching street price of the GT350R carbon wheels. That means for those of us with a GT350R it's not such a viable street-wheel alternative, and those with a standard GT350 willing to spend that kind of money to shave some wheel weight would likely have just opted for the GT350R to begin with. So as much as I'd love them as a street wheel I think the pricing creates a narrow niche market.

I am interested, but I'm not willing to put down a deposit or commit to something that (unfortunately) doesn't seem too likely.

No no no... We aren't asking for a deposit or any kind of commitment. We're simply asking YOU ALL - If we design and engineer a R101 Lightweight wheel specific for the GT350 would you pick up a set for yourself with all things considered?
