I've had my automatic GT vert for a couple of months now. I notice that I only see what gear I am in only when I tap a shift paddle. I could not see where I could turn that on full time in my settings. My F350 shows the gear line up and highlights the gear that I am in all the time. Can this be turned on in the Mustang?

It will show the gear you're in if you use the paddles in S mode.

It may be possible to modify the as-built codes to enable that "feature" in regular drive mode, but not to sure

you would need a forscan and some time to tinker.

Thanks for the reply. I am not capable of doing this but I would be curious if someone has tried or can try this.
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. That thread is definitely beyond my capability. I guess I will wait for someone to develop this mod and post the results. I am not confident with my computer skills (or lack of) to attempt this mod on a 2 month old vehicle.

oh sorry no, I meant post up the same request in that thread, as its pretty active. Its possible that someone has already made the same request, or they may be game to help you find out if its possible.

It's an automatic. You don't need to see what gear it's in.
The reason why trucks have them shown all the time is to remind the driver they could be towing in the wrong gear causing the transmission to overheat. You are not gonna be towing in a Mustang so having the gear shown all the time is pointless.

I have a Lund Ngauge installed in the center vent. I use the 6 led lights to indicate the gear I am in.

I think your comment is pointless. It may be valid and relevant to OP.

Do you have anything to contribute other than your "pointless" opinion?

Thanks for the follow up Dspec. I just would like having the gear showing like in my truck. I wanted the same in the Mustang. It has nothing to do with towing. I will put in a request at the link you provided. Thanks for your support.

It's ok Dspec, this guy is a professional manual transmission driver. All hail him for the incredible talent he possesses. Why would any peasant driving an automatic want more information to use while driving?

Funny I owned both automatic and manual S550.
Why would you care what gear it is in when using D mode?
If you want to know what gear you are in, use S mode and pedal shifter.
Useless information is useless. Why worry about things you can't control?

HPTuners software is capable of doing this. Here's the table to modify. You may be able to get a tune and ask your tuner to enable it in all modes.

Tune+ and COBB OTS maps enable this feature. I have it on my car since I first installed the COBB Stage 1 map and I still have it after I switched to an e-Tune by Tune+. It's very useful to know what gear I am in when I am in D mode, as I may have to quickly downshift 2 gears in order to assist breaking. Maybe this is a feature that can be enabled using FORSCAN, but there is nothing relevant in the thread mentioned above.

Because he WANTS to.... Why did you get the color and options you purchased on your mustang? Preference, We are ALL entitled to it.

I have a custom electronic shifter installed on my car, and want to know what gear the auto is in at all times too. In D mode its like a clutchless semi auto that can be shifted at will, and will always intervene if you dont shift, and in S mode its like a clutchless manual.

Check out this "pointless" mod! http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37172&highlight=sequential+shifter Oh wait, you were the douche shitting on my shifter Idea in a thread I posted last year.

Its your knuckle-dragging, pessimistic attitude that turns me off to this board, But there are some super cool, and talented people sharing their knowledge of this platform, and your useless comments are not relevant to information sharing, and love of the mustang.

All that has been provided in this thread was a possible solution to his request via the as-built programming.

All that you provided was your pointless comment. :headbonk:

Stop pissing on his idea and find another thread to "contribute" to.
