I ordered the Ford DOT 4 , Amazon prime, but evidently prime is no longer guaranteed 2-day, so I was going to use Motul 600 I got locally. Track event is Monday.

Motul 600 is excellent brake fluid, never had any issues with it.

Only one fluid that I know of has an even higher wet boiling point (which is what really matters on track), and that is Castrol SRF. But Motul is top shelf stuff, use with confidence.

Very good stuff. But no further than that. 660 for instance will damage your lines.
Never heard of that before, care to explain the impact?

Actually you guys are right. I was thinking 660 was DOT 5...
Makes sense. 660 is DOT4. just higher boiling point. for a heavy car like the mustang I would go with 660. I've used 600 in my Saab but it is lighter and carries less speed in corners.

660 probably needs to be bled/flushed on a slightly shorter schedule than 600. 660 has tested at a slightly lower pH than 600 and ever so slightly acidic at 6.8 vs 7.1 for 600 and 7.0 for being neither acidic nor alkaline.

I've been using 600 in my car with its "little" 12.4" front rotors without issue, though I do bleed out about one bottle's worth of dark fluid before it runs clear (prior to each track event).

Note: Motul RBF660 is not silicone based and compatible with most factory brake systems and fluids. Always follow vehicle manufacturer's recommendations when adding brake fluid!

For occasional track use and lots of daily driving what is the difference between dot 4 and fords recommended dot 4 LV fluid. Can i use dot 4 or do I really need the dot 4 LV?

The LV stuff is supposedly a better match to more recent ABS systems because it flows a little easier and may allow the ABS to cycle a little faster. Maybe more so at low temperatures.

Exactly, low temperatures. You're talking track, high temps, won't matter squat. Good quality high wet and dry boiling point Motul is better than Ford's.
