Surprised there aren't any times for Barber on this site yet. What a Great track! Had a great time there this weekend! I Should definitely be in the 1:39 range on the Hoosiers but, unfortunately I corded the driver front in the first session with the Hoosiers so, I had to run the Nitto's/6g wheels all weekend.

Make/Model/engine/trans/packages: 2017 Shelby GT350R
Track/Course: Barber Motorsports Park
Best Lap Time: 1:41.92
Brakes: G-loc R18/R12
Tires : Nitto NT01's 325 Square/Project6gr wheels
Suspension: BMR vertical links, Cradle lockout, diff bushings, Vorshlag Camber plates, Steeda lca bearings.
Other Mods: Watson 4 point roll bar, Schroth harnesses.

Great times but you will be able to get to the 1:39 on the NT-01's with a little more track time there. I was able to run 1:42.25 in the NSX at Barber on NT-01 and the Mustang has proven to be 3-4 sec a lap faster on the same tire than the NSX for me. I am trying to work out my schedule and hit Barber with Rezoom in Aug. I am shooting for a 1:39.xx on NT-01 and 1:36.xx on Pirelli Slicks. Barber is a very technical track and it is always moving, one of my favorite tracks, allows for a lesser powered car that handles well to really beat up on the high horsepower cars.

There is a good track video with a couple fast laps 3 & 4 of 1:38.47 here:

I hope to get to Barber soon!

Thanks Dave,

That was my buddy Jade Buford driving a friend of mine John Hope Bryant's gt350R at Barber earlier this fall/spring. I have yet to see anyone match Jade's times in their own car even. Jade is no joke! For comparison sake I believe John's PB that weekend was a 1:44, or about 6 seconds slower than Jade. Oh, and Jonn has a race licence... Both Jade and John were there this weekend as well. the Track was very hot and greasy and the best Jade could do was a 1:40.2. Also another friend who is a member here has a gt350r and a gt3rs who I've seen footage of him running 1:39 in the RS could only muster a 42 so, I'm quite confident the track was 2-3 seconds slow.

The Nt01's really are very sticky. This just isn't the right setup... I believe the 305/30 would do much better up front as far as "feel" is conserned. The 325/30 is just kinda mushy and numb. Maybe if I had another half inch wider wheel up front the 325 would work better. Still, If I can find another set of these for $1100 shipped I'll buy them again in a heart beat...

Let me know if you decide to do Barber in Aug. I might be able to swing that.

The NT-01 is a work horse, you have to be a little rough with it to get everything out of it, drives different than the Hoosier for sure. In general the tire does feel a little numb compared to a R7 or Pirelli. The NT-01 is a great bang for the buck tire. Never going to be the fastest R-Comp tire but considering with proper rotation on a square setup you can get 30-40 heat cycles makes it a big time winner. PS - they want a lot of camber to be happy.

I will let you know if I can make it, sounds like a Mustang friendly track with all those GT350s running around.

Nice driving.

Would 4 into 1 headers eliminate that unpleasant resonance? Or is that just some sort of camera/audio artifact?

Norm
Thanks!

Yeah, that's just the way the gopro picks up the sound. There is a ton of vibration over 7500 rpm or so, and that's what seems to cause it. But it definitely doesn't sound like that inside the car.

Suspension: RideTech Coilovers
Other Mods:GT350r wing, 3" Front Splitter, Velox Diffuser, Headers and custom exhaust

Saturday the track was perfect, nice and cool with tons of rubber down, then it rained Saturday night. Sunday the track was very green and I could not even run my personal best from Saturday. The car is faster than me, I need to clean up a few things and trust the car more in the carousel and kink. The car did great again, no real issues other than with all the long straights the HP war between me and the Vipers could not be overcome. They just walk me on the straights.

Had some technical problems with the GPS receiver and GoPro, but still got some video. Not sure why or what happened but the GPS receiver just died, will not charge or turn on.

Road America is still one of the best tracks in North America. Next up Barber Motorsports were the HP matters less, this track should swing things in my favor, lets hope anyway.

Nice lap! Holy moly, that's a lot of concrete. Guess you can tell out there pretty quickly who can truly afford their car and who can't. :D
