Hello Friends,

been a long time lurker here and I think the time is right to register and
ask for your valuable opinions.

I am strongly considering a 2017 GT Premium + PP but Im also
intrigued by the updates on the 2018 GT Premium.

Now, just this afternoon, I got a call from a dealer who Ive been
talking to and told me that the price of a 2018 GT Premium is roughly
the same price of the 2017 GT Premium with PP.

This presented a real buzzkill for me since I am so close to pulling the
trigger on the 2017 especially with so much discounts like employee pricing,
delivery allowance and $1K costco member discount.

Also, reason why Im leaning over to the 2017 is because this platform
has matured enough that most of the issues have already been addressed
with the 2017 version.

Now, the 2018 is full of bells and whistles but I am cautious that there
definitely will be teething problems with all the upgrades especially for the
initial year release.

So my question is, considering the maturity of the 2017 platform against the
upgrades of the 2018, if the price is almost identical, will you choose the

2017 GT Premium + PP
or the
2018 GT Premium

Thanks folks!

2017s are pretty readily available for anywhere from $5-8K off msrp. Don't trust the dealer, price it out yourself.

2017 GT premium + PP = $41090 TruCar estimate in my area $35.5K
2018 GT premium = $39.9K

Well, you should have 2000 from ford. plus 500 on a special. I pushed the dealer for 2700 more off. He cried like i was trying to remove his kidneys w/o anesthetic! Mine is a base GT though. there is more room on the premium. PP is must. That's a real 4k difference in price. Would not consider it w/o one. That's me though. the Calipers alone are worth 2k. The only thing i see on the '18 i want is the digital dash. With the stage2 PP I'm at 460, plus the new hood is atrocious.

I'm just curious, why do people think 2018 is a fresh new platform and will have lots of problems? Remember 2018 is just a minor refresh, it's still the same S550 platform with some upgrades, the way I see it is 2018 is actually the fix for problems seen on 2015-2017. Sure it has a new engine, but it is still just some minor improvements done on the old one, not a completely new design.

Talk about beating a dead horse...

I wouldn't get a 2017 when you're going to take a massive depreciation hit because you're driving an outdated model and a year behind.

Get the 18 and have no regrets

Because you'll save more than the hit you'll take. there's not going to be any factory incentives till maybe end of 2018 at least, Dealer will think they have gold. Prices have gone way up around the board. the SAME PP is 1k more! New hood sucks compared to the '15-17 hood (subjective here, I know!)
15-17 Engine makes same power with Stage2PP. no reason to get a '18 unless you like giving away $$$, and that hood!!!

For my money, get the '17 GTPP and use the money you will save over an '18 on mods to improve it to your exact tastes and needs.

only downside to a 17 is you cant order it. im sure you could find something to fit your wants. personally i like my 17 better than the new 18s. cant get over that hood. not that you can see it but the engine bay looks way worse too. rest of the car isnt bad but for something im gonna look back at everytime i walk away i wanna love it. and i hate the way the 18 front end looks. my vote is 17

Definitely go for the 17 Prem + PP. Save money, look better (new slogan? LOL).

Get a 17. The money you save buy a supercharger and you will never think about a 18 again

If you can't afford the new better model, you'll just have to settle for the old model.

The only thing the '18 has is the digital dash. But you have to load it up to near 50k to just have the $1600 option. Fugly azz front end. Camery hood. Get a Mans car. Get a '17! Get the cool hood!!! :D

The S550 platform is the same one,BUT the Coyote engine and transmission are ALL new,and you can bet your ass that they will have MORE problem than you can count, and when the warranty is off, your wallet will become as light as a feather, with all of the HIGH $$$$$$ repairs.Should be fun to watch.:D
