Anyone own a GT350 that came from a C7 Vette?

I love the GT350, but as my daily driver the maintenance costs are kind of high (and no I don't want a beater car, I love to DD a performance car). I always loved the C7 Vette, and kind of jumped into the 350 without comparing a whole lot. I did some research between the two, performance and maintenance wise, and it seems like the C7 is cheaper to maintain. Almost 10 more MPGs on the highway (which since I like to do out of state trips, adds up a lot), almost half the oil for an oil change and not some specialty oil you can only buy online, not sure exactly what the brakes and rotors costs are on the Vetter but since the car is lighter and not drilled I'm assuming cheaper and last longer, and tires are also a good deal cheaper, about 800 for a set vs about 1400 for the 350 (assuming you stick with the same MPSS). Only complaints I've really heard about the Vette is that it's hard to get in and out of for some older folks, but I'm 30 so not worried about that yet. Now I do love the 350, and as far as I know I'm the only one in Spring Hill, whereas I see a C7 at least a couple times a day (different ones). So what are your opinions if you owned a C7 and moved to a 350?

So this is a little different but I came from a C5 Z06 and a C6 Z06. I did not feel like I fit in the C7 all that well and am just not a big fan of them. Aside from that the Vette's are cheaper to drive and maintain. I could average 30 mpg on the highway in both my Z06's. If you want to have a fun car that saves some cash vs the GT350 then a C7 is a good choice if that's what you like.

I have both and I think you are overthinking it. On mpg yes the vette is way out front but I am not aware of any big maintenance costs on the gt350.

Referring to the $1500 brake and rotor job and tires.

Had a Z51 C7. It's a great car, but doesn't have the soul of the GT350. I'd like to drive a GS, maybe I'd change my opinion.

C7 Vette isn't a cheap car either though. Tires will be similar, brakes as well. I think the GT350 brakes are probably cheaper than the Vette brakes.

I really do love the C7 (drove one at the Ron Fellows Driving School), but felt that the GT350 with its crazy engine would be more engaging. Also, I have kids so the rear seats on the GT350 are perfect for me.

I would like to get a Vette one of these days, but i won't be giving up the GT350 to do it.

I own both but I think I'm like most that do. no daily driving at all, but I would rather get in and out of the mustang and the visibility is much better in the mustang (except when the top is down on the vette}

I disagree with your statement that the vet gets better mpg.

I get 19.4 mpg on the highway with cruise set to 70mph. I have seen many posts and some pictures of people with C7's getting 38+ mpg with cruise set to 78mph, plus the car itself is rated 29mpg city.

Vette also have cylinder de-activation and other goodies to keep the MPG in check for light loads.

Easy to do when you can amortize costs across all the trucks on your fleet. :)

I say bullshit
I can also clear out my mpg display and snap a pic of it saying 90mpg when it's calculating.
I will never believe a vet, camaro or any GM V8 getting 30+ mpg.

Vette rotors are cheaper by a noticeable margin. You can pick up both front rotors for less than $300.

Consumables was something I was looking at very closely when I was cross shopping a Z51 and the GT350.

30+? No, very unlikely on a consistent basis. But they can and do get pretty damn close to 30 on the freeway and low 20's combined is common place.

Not just that, but seems like they last a lot longer too.
