If it could be done with the updated dash, steering wheel, built converter, and CF driveshaft for less than 8k installed, I'd do it.
Unlike a manual swap from one unit to another, a swap to an auto will require more than just he hardware and miscellaneous parts. It also requires the PCM, TCM and BCM to work. So while not impossible, it will be much more involved than swapping out the MT82 for a TR6060 or a 6R80. You will probably have to gut the car to remove and rework all of the wiring and computers.

But again, it's speculation right now. In reality though, if a rather straight forward swap to a TR6060 costs upwards of 5-6k, I can't begin to imagine what it would cost to do the 10 speed auto swap.

Looks like the 10 speed auto tranny for the 5.0 is $4281.45

WOW...FML..so much for that mod. :(
Wait until they start hitting junkyards.... Pricing should be more into the $1000-2000 range at that point.

I have access to the 18 wiring diagrams and have begun looking into the differences in wiring for the auto. To me it looks like a 10 speed swap will require at least a new engine harness and possibly a new PCM. I put possibly for the PCM as it might be possible to reprogram a 15-17 PCM for the new harness and transmission. I still need to look into actual connector faces in order to determine if the harnesses are compatible. As far as the vehicle side of things I seen nothing different. BCM shouldn’t need reprogramming. The only thing I see that might need to be swapped in addition to the PCM is the gauge cluster in order to properly control the paddle shifters and display gear information.

The bell housings are different and 1 trans looks longer then the other..
Different angles and the bell housing is due to the fact that the overview of the 6R80 is from a V6 variant where as the 10R80 is a 5.0. There are no bell housing differences between the 10r80 and 6r80 5.0.

People have been swapping 6R80s into GT500s for quite a while now.

its about 2200 bucks to do that from here

I realize thats not a 10 speed but id bet it wont take long for someome to offer a 10 speed swap kit too.

Right, it's doable but alot more involved and expensive seeing as how just the controller is 2200 bux...I can't imagine what it would be for the 10 speed computer :eyebulge:

Modern transmissions have the control unit integrated into the transmission housing. There is no separate control unit to purchase... You will likely need the PCM and that’s it.

2018 PCMs seem to use different connectors though so either a new under hood harness will be required (which could lead to more different connectors) or potential for an adapter to be made to convert 2017 harnesses to 2018 PCM. A new engine harness will be mandatory.

What’s also interesting, the 2018s now have exhaust gas temperature sensors? I’m guessing for emissions reasons.

here's what we know about parts integration from the 18 to the 15-17 and vice versa:

The 10r80 transmission will fit just have to figure out how to make it work electronically.
The Rear tail lights also fit perfectly no adjustments, but costs $1k for the pair.
The Digital Dash also works but some bugs need to be worked out.
a Host of 15-17 aftermarket parts also work on the 18's..

Why would you want a 10 speed on a forced induction car? I think 6 gears is pushing it at high power levels. Common sense aside I am sure it is possible just not practical. Then again neither was swapping the 6r80 into my 2015 pp car.
