Tom's 2016 Ingot Silver GT Supercharged Premium PP Build

Hey guys!

Wanted to get a thread going to document the progress of my new GT! This category of car is a whole new world to me. Been in turbo 4 bangers since 2003 and really wanted to try something different! Absolutely love the lines of the S550 and you sure do get a lot of performance/creature comforts for your money! The aftermarket support is a bit overwhelming for these cars and I'm looking forward to doing my research and modifying this thing to my liking!

Sweet. A fellow Californian! Did you order your car from Frontier Ford or pick it up on the lot? Reason being, I test drove a Silver GT Premium PP a few months ago. A few questions:

How did you like dealing with that dealership? I always got a "smuggy" atmosphere when I was there. Maybe they see a young guy who might not be able to foot the bill for a ~$40k car.

Second, coming from 2 turbo cars how does this differ in your opinion? I know you literally just got it but I still am curious. Anyways I love the Ingot color! Congrats man!

I got lucky and Frontier had the car exactly how I would've ordered it. Only 3 miles on the ODO when I picked it up as well.

For me, Frontier was excellent. I live about 3 hours away from there and we negotiated the price and interest rate all over the phone. I was actually dealing with the General Manager of the dealership. He put the deal together and actually came back 4 hours after he was off to shake my hand and make sure I was happy with everything. No complaints, extremely smooth transactions. Just do your research, figure out exactly what you want and know what a fair attainable price is going in to the deal.

So far the car has been awesome! Compared to my last 3 cars its definitely got more bells and whistles, all which I'm enjoying very much. The power band and power delivery is something I'm still getting used to (car only has 220 miles). Other thing that is taking some getting used to is the size. These are not small cars and compared to the Fiesta it's MUCH bigger. Still manageable just gonna take time to really get comfortable maneuvering tight spaces.

Been enjoying the hell out of this thing! Got a few basics done yesterday. Still waiting on a few orders for the real fun to begin!

One of my first goals is to get rid of all the chrome badging. The UPR badges are a nice way to go. Ford licensed and are basically an exact replica of the OEM black 5.0 badges. Alignment holes made it super simple to get them applied straight as an arrow. Only complaint is some minor swirling in the finish right out of the package. Not bad, but definitely noticeable if you're right up close to it.

Had a fun morning installing the first round of parts! My good friend is a Mercedes master tech and he was willing to come by and give me a hand to ensure everything went smoothly. Luckily it did! No major hiccups and we had everything completed within a few hours. American Muscle did send me a JLT can for a V6 though I won't go into too much detail about the parts as it's already been beaten to death, but here's some quick thoughts:

First and foremost the Corsa is HEAVEN! I knew it was going to be a solid exhaust because of the excellent reviews, but it exceeded all of my expectations and from inside the cabin it's very livable and not obnoxious at all. I'm sure from the outside it's a different story. I couldn't be happier with the fit, finish and sound.

The Ford badge and tail light panel fit as they should and definitely clean up the look of the car. Will probably do RTR Grille (non-LED) or see if I can get on a list for the SCS Grille when they're available again.

Steeda Clutch Spring is a must have IMO, for $10 it makes the driving experience MUCH better. Clutch articulation is the way it should've been from the factory now. That stock spring is a BEAST!

We threw the jacking rails on before we got the car in the air and it definitely makes getting an entire side of the car up much easier. The hardware Steeda provided was no good. The thread pitch was completely different from the stock threading. Ended up using the 8 bolts installed from the factory. The CJ video shows bronze colored hardware included with the rails, but I received bright silver...Odd

Lastly, I decided to do the diff bushings because we were gonna have the exhaust off anyway. Pretty straight forward install and we didn't even need to drop the rear of the subframe. Make sure you have an 18mm open end handy as fitting a ratchet/socket in between the spare tire well and the diff bolt gets tight quick. Any sort of diff clunks have now disappeared and I look forward to outfitting the rest of the rear end with the Steeda catalog!

These came in the mail, so decided to slap em in and see how they looked! Everyone knows what these are so won't say much, but nice complete kit. Took a few tries to get one of the bulbs lined up correctly. All is well and they fit nice and snug and work as they should.

Threw a few more DD parts on while I anxiously await my big Steeda order. Both installed very easily and are much brighter/better looking then OEM. Was tempted to go for the Oracle reverse light housing, but I'll stick with the DD bulb for now.

The front is hard to copy in EU but will get there!

DD switchbacks won't work overhere, our Fog lights have the DRL's integrated instead of the US LED TRi-Bar (LED's simply not present in export cars).

Rear side markers, I'll go for the white ones, nice match with the white EU taillights. We don't have lights in it but DD made an EU kit connectable to rear lightset.
