HI,

Was just coming home from work tonight, and my Check Engine Light came on  Wasn't doing anything too crazy-just gunned it to get around a slow poke in the Left turn lane (dual turn lane)-no where near redline. Car had been on the road for 25 miles, so it was fully warmed up. I caught a brief whiff of raw gas. After making the turn, the car was behaving normally.

I've got a scan tool (Bosch Bluetooth model), but I've never even seen the OBD II port in the car. Is it below the steering column like it used to be required to be by federal law?

28,000 miles and still under full warranty :headbang:

So the code is "P144C" according to my scan tool...and according to the Android app, the code means "Closed Loop Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regency. CTR,. At Limit - Stage 1 Temp. Too High.

According to the freeze frame, the engine was turning 2136 RPM, I had the throttle opened 26.7%, barometric pressure was 29.5" HGTV, and calculated load was 61.2%, MAP was 40.5" HG (!), outside air temperature was 50 degrees Fahrenheit, coolant temp was 194 degrees, Inlet air temperature was 57 degrees, Ignition Advance was 5.5 degrees, Short Term Fuel Trim bank 1 was -6.2%, Long Term Fuel Trim bank 1 was 9.4%, Vehicle speed was 66 MPH, Absolute Load was 122%, absolute fuel rail pressure was 1456.18 PSI, fuel system was closed loop, relative throttle position was 17.6%, Throttle Command was 22.7%, Abolted Throttle position B was 26.7%, Accelerator Position December was 44.7%, Accelerator Position E was 22.4%, Cat Temp11 was 1266 degrees Fahrenheit, Evan Purge was 80%, Evap Vapor Pressure was 14.72 H2O, commanded equivalent rate was 1.053, O2 sensor 2 voltage was 0.775 volts, Equivalent Ratio Bank 1 Sensor 1 was 0.986, O2 sensor 1 was -0.070 mA, CLR DIST was 28434 miles, CLR TRPS was at 255, fuel level was 74.9%, Control Module voltage was 13.339V, Engine had been running 42:07.

Anything I'm leaving out?

Judging by the speed, this must have happened on the freeway earlier, and I must not have noticed the CEL until later... :frusty:

I Googled P144C, and I got hits in the F-150 Ecoboost forums. Apparently, it's my Purge canister valve misbehaving....

Majority of the time it is emission related.

It's stock and under warranty, so let it be the dealerships headache. Like already stated above, sometimes that code means there's an issue(s) with the purge canister valve. If so, make Ford replace it.

Before anyone says anything it was a joke lol.Sometimes theirs a filter that gets dirty that can be cleaned on the vent valve.

Dealer says it's a leaky canister plumbing system. I've got a rental Fiesta for the night (also getting an oil leak taken care of...).

Was going over the service order for this.

The fix was to replace the canister purge valve. There is a TSB for this (17-04). Just a heads up for everyone else ;)
