Hello All,

My ecoboost PP mustang 2016 started vibrating while braking at 50 or 60 mph. I can feel the vibration coming from the Front passenger side only and from no other wheels.

I am at 19k miles now. Has anyone experienced a similar issue ?
Appreciate any suggestions on what could have gone wrong?

Thanks.

mileage is on the low side but typically you are describing a warped rotor

mindys just had his brakes turned for the same reason.

Unlikely it'll be covered under warranty however. Brakes are a wear item and they have no way of verifying that you didn't abuse them.

Yeah, how I check is lift up the wheels off the ground and spin them by hand. My right wheel was turning nice at one location, then had much more friction at another location. I had both front rotors turned and now it brakes smooth.

mindys ... My wheel was turning fine when I spinned them 1k miles ago. This was when I first noticed this is issue... Now I have some issue braking the car as well. Does brake as efficiently.

My vibration occurred when I lightly braked at highway speeds mostly. I didn't have steering issues if that is what you are referring to. What is vibrating when braking? The steering wheel?

As melwff stated, it sounds like a warped rotor.

Thanks for your responses guys... I went to the Ford dealer and showed him the vibration while braking and the steering vibrations during the braking.

They took a couple of days and replaced both the Brake pads and rotors under warranty. I was at 20k miles when I went into the dealer. They said the brake pad material got stuck on to the rotors and that was causing the abnormal vibrations.

What they said was entirely likely. Most pad formulations do transfer material over to the rotors. It's when this happens unevenly that you run into disc thickness variation from an uneven transfer layer that comes back at you as a vibration.
