Went to the local 1/8th mile a while back.
First time on MT ET Street BIAS PLIES.
Ran 16psi in them, dead hooking with a 5k side step off the clutch.
I could smell the clutch after each run.
My question is this:
Is there any merit in upping the pressures until the car actually gets a small amount of spin off the line? Kinda thinking it might help keep the revs up and give better MPH
I'm a total noob to drag racing. Best I could manage was 7.6/7.7 @ 94/95
I have DSS 800hp half-shafts ready to put in but honestly, it feels like the clutch will go first if I keep this up. :eyebulge:

100% a bias ply needs to spin quite a bit more than you'd think. On slicks the half shafts will last a decent while.

Spinning aint winning. For best times. Keep your technique the way you have it OP. The stock clutch is a goner. If you plan to race a lot. upgrade it. If the halfshafts break. Upgrade them at that point. Wheel hop breaks the half shafts. Not dead hooking. The clutch is simply a ware item. And it wears a lot faster when it's abused!

Thanks for the advice guys, only problem I have now is two conflicting opinions...
What "seems" to be happening is that the dead-hook pulls the revs down significantly, killing any chance of a good 60'
It's pretty consistent, the slips below are from 3 consecutive passes.
My 60 foot sucks right?
3.55 gears, 28x11.5 17 MT ET Street R for those playing at home.

Drop the air pressure a little more and try again. 1.6s isn't bad.
