If so that's a swizz. When the UK leaves the unHoly German Empire I hope our cars become a bit cheaper.

Depends if the UK can agree a better deal with USA.

With Trump the way he is he will probably want 30%, make sure the US economy, and manufacturers really gets a good deal and stuff anyone else.

Yes, at the moment there's no free trade between the EU and US. But I think it's highly unlikely we'll see free trade between the UK and US post-Brexit.

Not sure of the tax arrangements on the cars.

Bombardier has recently struck a deal to do the final assembly of their aircraft in the USA to avoid US import tax.

It was suggested that the reason all EU bound cars are sprayed underneath with crap in Belgium ports is to “ complete final assembly” in the EU and avoid import duty.

*And any quota's imposed on import quantities.

We pay 20% VAT, also driven by EU policy.
Actually EU rules mean the UK cannot reduce VAT on goods and services below 15%, the standard rate of VAT in the EU.

The standard rate of VAT in the UK is 20%, decided solely by our Government.

The government could reduce VAT by up to 5% today if it wanted, and still comply with the EU rules.

I said driven by, not set by. Only 5 EU countries have VAT rates lower than 20%.

Trump has nothing to do with import tariffs that the EU imposes on foreign products, nor is the US government or any US company the benificiary of such tariffs.
