Thanks for the compliments but I am what I call a "Learned Driver". Some guys have a natural ability to drive fast, I on the other hand have to study, dissect a track, practice, and work at it to progress. I have been tracking for a little over 20 years and for the first 7 or 8 years I was doing it all wrong. I made myself faster by making the car faster. It took me a long time to realize that it is better to invest your time into learning how to drive fast than it is to making a car faster.Thanks. To sort of put it into perspective did you drive the car at all on the track before it became your test mule? I mean I'm judging by the video, job, and what not you are clearly an advanced driver so just wondering what you thought of the base GT/PP. I am guessing you already had a benchmark so to speak but figured I'd ask. More out of curiosity.
Pretty slick again and thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching you guys/gals running the cars on the track. I need to make an effort to find a beginner track session in '18 just to watch or even run a session.
About 10 years ago I decided not to make any more changes to the car I was tracking other than safety mods. If I could learn to be fast in that car then I would be a better driver no matter what I was driving. Now I am faster than most and slower than some, but that is not what is important in the long run to me, I enjoy driving and building the cars I use on track. I enjoy the friends I have met along the way and I really enjoy the challenge of making myself a better driver.
I actually rented a V6 car and ran it on track, then was able to drive a stock PP GT that a friend has, that is when I knew there was something there to work with. My criteria for picking the chassis to build was more than that though. I wanted something new, affordable to purchase, had a very strong aftermarket, had enough power naturally aspirated, and could be easily modified/tuned. These things all pushed me to the Mustang.
