So I finally decided my next mod will be a short throw shifter and I'm trying to decide which is the best for my DD GT.
Things I don't like about stock are the grindy feeling when trying to get into 1st or even 5th sometimes at higher RPM's, and then of course the 3rd gear lockout. Having a shorter throw would be nice too of course.
The shop I'm talking to will charge $200 to install either and $30 to replace fluid with BG synchro 2.
Is the MGW directly mounted to the Trans, which causes a more grindy feeling between gears?
The Standard Race Spec is 15% throw reduction and the steeda is 30%, seems like a big difference?
The MGW is more than twice the $, worth it?
Reverse camera still works with both right?
Any input would be great.
Thanks guys!

You want a trans mount shifter. Once you've tried it you'll never go back. MGW + BG fluid is bliss to shift.

Far, far Less notchy, much more precise, and no more lockout of gear. mindys

$30 to replace the fluid is pretty good.
Both are good but If im dropping the coin i would go MGW. This is unless I received a screaming deal on the steeda. As a heads up a trans mounted shifter may increase NVH.

MGW. We can go round and round. MGW is what you want, I had it on my EB and now my GT350.

Worth every penny.

I never had the MGW, but from what I read in the past, they make a very good shifter. I do however have the Steeda race short throw shifter and BG fluid in the trans. I never had any shifting issues, no noises, no nothing. I can say I am very happy with the Steeda, but I'm quite sure you would be happy with either.

Thanks guys, great write up Mindy!
$30 is labor, not including fluid, he says since he's in there already, its cheap.

Sadly you didn't drive my car at Supercar Saturday that one day we met up, would have been a good for you to feel what my car is like with the setup. If you want to do that, let me know.

Don't rule out the Barton. I went trans mount and love it. Coupled with the BG fluid, it's a night and day difference.

Ive decided MGW is the way to go with overwhelming positive reviews.
I'm going to bumy the game synchro ii kit and do the fluid first on my own until I get the money for shifter.

One last question as I don't work on cars much but the video on changing tranny fluid makes it look pretty easy.
Can I back my car on ramps, apply parking brake and then floor jack up front left, insert another ramp under tire and then front right and insert 4th ramp to get car level and off ground safely? I was going to use piece of 2x4 on jack and insert this behind pinch weld to get a little more height.
Bmac said that's should be fine just getting second opinions?

Yes but I would actually put the front on jack stands not ramps.
