Mods Advice please:)

So, here's the thing with waiting for a Mustang, every week that goes by there is more money in the coffers for mods.
Working on the premise that mods fall into 3 categories: Style/Vanity , Handling , Power. Working with between £5000 and £9000 what is the best way to go with a 5.0l V8?

I'm thinking the best start is handling mods such as suspension and tyres as if you can't use the power what's the point in making more.

Next I reckon on headers and exhaust to bring it in line with the original US car followed by a CAI and a tune.

What else ????

read gibbos handling guide, he's just swapped to coil overs, rates them highly, however, they're springs are good for a 'budget'.

Now if i was running a 9k budget.

GT350 Throttle body, Intake etc (About £2k)
Kooks LT headers (About 3k including install)
exhaust (About 1-1.5k but people are selling some way cheaper)
Handling Mods (about 1-3k depending how 'deep' you go into them, springs on the cheaper side, KW3's on the more expensive side)
Appearance mods - the rest of it ;)! If total is 7.5k, maybe new alloys, or just whatever tickles your fancy :)

Appearance or styling mods are in hand and have already started a "collection" to add at some time, quite happy with the wheels I ordered but will change the tyres sooner rather than later. Just trying to get a few ideas on the sequence of mods. Be nice to book it in for, say CAI,exhaust and tune on same day.
Quite fancy buying a spare set of headlights though and trying the DD lights

Cheaper just to leave your car with my guys for 3 days, get your lights opened and get them to do it, rather than buying your own and a diode set for like £1000 then the hassle it brings, but if you want the challenge lol ;)!

Gibbo is probably your man to speak to in terms of power for that kind of money, i'd guess he'll just give a lot more info on the mods I listed above though (Like specifically what handling bits to go for).

Shelby, Roush, Steeda or Ford Performance? Or Eibach or BMR ;)!

I personally use Steeda IRS Bushing inserts and IRS alignment kit which i thinks effing amazing, others use the BMR CB005 and then certain braces.

Actually, Gibbo has some of his bits for sale:

Thanks good setup that gives the height in the first picture on that link, all you need then is Eibach spacers, 15mm rear and 25mm front if keeping stock wheels.

If you want ultimate in handling then get some KW coilovers, V3 is around 2k and Clubsport around 2.5k

1. Suspension/stance/tyres.
2. Noise, so exhaust/headers.
3. Performance/breathing/tune.
4. Transmission, upgrade diff and gearbox oils, short shifter (MGW/Barton etc)
4. Styling. Beware though, you'll want just about everything you see on others cars or advertised.

This is the sequence I would do it in, if I were to do it all again. I've still the performance to square away although you get plenty out the box.

That's your 9k budget right there, another 8-9k supercharger

Also bare in mind, fitting costs, if you're like me, I haven't got the inclination, time, intelligence or equipment to do all this on my own, so factor in about 25% of the cost for fitting, 24% for import/duty as most things need to come from the states, although UK suppliers are getting much better, they still have to pay taxes and make a profit.

i'm more of a style over substance kinda guy :)

So suspension drop, spacers, spoiler, vinyl roof, vinyl mirrors, wheel lugs, emblem colour changes etc. is where i spent all my money.

I just ordered the roush heat extractor panels for the hood... that should be interesting..

oh - and exhaust - although, the one i have is loud as fk - almost tempted to drive back to the dealer and hear what the stock one sounds like again.

Just bear in mind the real insurance hit comes with the engine tune. Everything else has a much more manageable impact.

You are in a lucky minority, or they haven't classified it properly!

And the other point to mention is that quite a lot of the market drops out at the point of engine remaps so what's left is a bit of a cartel.

It's with A-plan so they should know what that's all about as they are a specialist car insurer. They were the only firm that would insure me when I put my headers on. I do seem to have fallen on my feet finding these guys as I have near 40 mods and they are as good as gold with all of them.
