Whoa. I randomly couldn't sleep and visited the forum. It's been a while, so I was eyeballing through the threads and saw the check your oil one first, and then this one.
What you described about the bad lifter sound has me worried. My car is doing this. It's the second time it's popped up.
I made a thread here: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76718
As you can see by my update comment... the rattle went away after an oil change. I thought that was super strange. Dealership told me the same thing... just piston noise. It's definitely louder now, but I hadn't put 2 and 2 together until seeing the abnormal oil consumption thread and you describing the noise my car is making.
I have had it sitting in my driveway until I get it to the dealer. My spidey senses were telling me something was off and it's not just piston noise. The car was driving fine and still is the last I drove it. It makes the noise regardless of engine temps.
Guess I will move her to level ground and check the oil levels this week.
After my first oil change, nothing was mentioned to me about consumption so I didn't have any worries. I am about 2k out from the normal schedule. Got the car in May 2016. First oil change in March 2017. Car has a bit over 8k on it. Starting to see a pattern here...
I will update this once I check the oil and get it to the dealer (recalls + safety inspection + early oil change).
