Looking to grab some new tires for my HRE FF15s (20x10 squared) on my Daily Driver.

Car is 100 miles daily driven, and used for product testing primarily.

I beat on the car severely, Level5000 style...and also road course the car.

Looking for a solid tire for a good price that will hold up decently.

Thoughts?

I have the firestones, great tire. Everyone who gets them seems to really like them. And they should last a lot longer than the kumhos.

I've shied away from PS91s, despite claims from the BMW crowd they are nearly as or as good as MPSS's, because the tread width listed on them is oddly small, as is the tread depth. I don't see them lasting and if you peruse those forums, they don't. There is an Infinity (I think) with them parked in my hotel this week incidentally, and they don't look quite their size compared to the same size tire from Nexen on the back (which I think you already have). I'll try and take a picture when I get back if the car is still there.

The Indy 500s are a derivative of a well-regarded (a bit aged, but well-regarded) Euro/Asia-spec performance tire under the Bridgestone name. I have heard ZERO complaints about them, including from a few people who have done AutoX and road courses. If they would just f'ing spit out the mysterious 305/35-20 they have listed as an option to accompany a 285/35-20, I'd have these right now.

You may consider the new Conti Sport - hearing nice things about those. Expensive...

I have the firestones too, they are pretty great for the price, quiet, good wet performance, and they look great too.

The PS91s are in the Max Performance Summer class vs the Firehawks are in the next lower class, Ultra High Performance Summer. The PS91s are a softer tread which should give better traction and have a shorter tread wear of 260 vs the Firehawk's 340 and the firehawk costs a bit less. Unless you really are competing with them, I'd go with the Firehawks with the longer tread wear, lower price and respectable performance.

Those classes, these days seemingly perpetuated by TireRack.com, are getting so blurred they're almost useless - Max vs. Ultra are a huge gray area. The BF Goodrich Comp-2 tire is in the lower Ultra class and I see it on dedicated track cars, even seasoned drivers' cars, every single time I'm at a road course - all over the place.

I haven't heard of anyone being unhappy with the Indy500 'a (not the wide oval version.)

I have them up front and no complaints here. My buddy runs them on the rear of his auto car and he's super happy.

Except by all accounts, including Tire Rack's, the Indy 500 is the best tire in the ultra category, the PS91 is nowhere near the best in the max category, and the categories DEFINITELY have overlap. Tread rating between brands isn't really something to compare unless you're looking at 200 vs something like 500. The Pilot super sport is 300...

Look at the slalom times, track times and lateral g on the tire rack tests. Look at the reviews of the Indy 500. An anecdote: coworker replaced his P Zeros with them on his GT PP and has found an increase in grip, even when hot.

The question is, are the Firestone tires compatible with BMR parts? Or were they designed for Steeda parts? #mindblown

Even better question is, what can I do to get your job? The ability to post so much during the day, without it being part of your job = #winning!

Spend the hard time developing your team, and all you need to do is guide them. :)
