I gotta say, after a week, making this catback the Xtreme was an excellent decision. Yeah, it's loud, but as most know, very controllable. When you let it rip, though, the fury! What a sound. I've heard a bunch of S550s and nothing comes close to this exhaust for sheer ferocity/aggressiveness and clarity of tone, all while being usable daily.

After hearing it I can say it's a great exhaust. Was surprised at first you went that direction but it's one of those things you have to hear in person.

Awesome it turned out so well!

Installed the Mishimoto silicone intake hose today. So far I am going to withhold complete thoughts until I've had it for a few days, but here are my thoughts so far:
Throttle tip in is definitely better
Exhaust is a little deeper
It's actually easier to keep the exhaust quiet, weirdly
Midrange torque seems to be improved but can't say for sure yet

Did you change tune by any chance as well?

No, no changes. This tube works with a stock, non-tuned car and I would expect similar results, perhaps just slightly smaller magnitude.

After the drive in to work this morning, midrange is definitely stronger.

I've heard a couple times that the tube helps mid range a bit. If I had to do it over I'd run the stock box with a Mishi tube and maybe a big mouth but at the very least hog out the grill.

What are the thoughts behind just upgrading the tube? Is the factory enclosed air box and filter considered to be fairly efficient?

It is. The tube reduces pressure drop between the filter and throttle body and maintains enough volume to deal with the pressure harmonics from closing values upstream. BMR Tech made 420 whp with it on E85 tune and an axleback.

Very interesting. I prefer the idea of maintaining an enclosed airbox and always figured a lot of the filters on A/M intakes were for looks. Is a tune required to run this? Probably not a lot of benefit to be had without one.

No, tune not required. You can get more out of it with a tune certainly, but I did not update my tune for it and have definite gains.

Got steering wheel vinyl decals added yesterday. Loving the look.
