Steve, has done so much to help fellow members on the sites over the year, helping us all with the steering wheels, and has worked on many people's cars. And as i said I would leave my car with him, his time and energy he puts into his car and many other owners cars is amazing. In-fact Steve at the National yesterday there was a owner of a S197 I was telling him about you, so you might get a message on SMUK. In my humble opinion his work is superb, and it's that good he could do it for a living.

Thank you, appreciate that Lazza :).

As stated, the works a WIP, there's much to be done, they're far from finished and wont be until later this week I hope.

For those reading that's left to do on the covers:

  • Sand and then wet sand if needed (Depends on part finish etc)
  • Recoat the topcoat of the Ruby Red, in a different direction to make the metallic flake more prominent.
  • Check for any "over paint/overspray/issues/defects" etc
  • Verify with the owner all Is okay
  • Lacquer up with 2 pack lacquer, usually 2 or three coats, takes probably 8+ hours to do this stage as lots of drying and shuffling around how they dry so it keeps a glassy finish. Need to check angles under lights whilst doing it to make sure if keeps a proper "line" as I do it, otherwise with 2pack you can get refracted (I think that's the term) reflections
  • Wetsand to bring the shine and depth up
  • Polish
so at the moment, there's bubbles in the hand painted bits, uneven drying etc, they'll be gone before lacquering. Just how it goes when you hand paint things. So yes they don't look great. But it's WIP. But then again, this will be like arguing with a brick wall, those that know, understand it's not as easy as lick of paint done, those that don't assume that's the case.

C'mon guys, I thought we'd sorted this last week :frusty:

I'd deleted LS's post.....and edited others that quoted it. I've also edited your replies MM.

Please, for the last time, ignore each other or there WILL be infractions given.

Well I fixed the annoying boot not closing properly issue.

A couple of times over the last few weeks I have been driving along and the 'boot open' light has come on. So today decided to take a look.

I fixed it in seconds. I just removed the tie wraps that I used to hold the boot down a few weeks back when I picked up two lengths of 4" waste pipe from the plumbers merchant.

Only just gone and added DRL tribars and switchback indicators :headbang:

[ame]

About 1.5 days work total.

Tribars installed using the 'cut a hole in the bottom' method.

Had to create a couple wiring harnesses and adapters to get power to everything.

Finally for those wondering, I shaved down a standard 7443 socket just enough to perfectly fit the OEM housing. All lights are from Diode Dynamics.

oh and flattened, lacquered etc the ruby red covers, then wet sanded and relacquered.

Wet sand, polish, and some fixes of some issues needing to be done.

Heaven forbid these don't look gash anymore.

(i'm aware)

I was replying to the guy who reposted, no idea really why an honest opinion should cause such ructions

It's not like I'm not a nice guy.
